Here is a consolidated list of benchmark results from various web sites that compared the Radeon X1900 XTX versus the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB at a resolution of 1600x1200.

Nice compilation. Just to make sure I read it correctly, the green percentages are how much faster the GTX 512 is vs the X1900XTX and vice versa (i.e. red = ATI win), right?

Right.

The only one that REALLY seems to hurt nVIDIA is FEAR...otherwise, the GTX 512 is one hell of a sh!tkicker! w00t!

I wish I had two. :(

WOw the 512 is still up there! I think ATI should of went with a different design, I don't think the x1900XTX is going to shine for a while... 3 ALU's per pipe just doesn't do much on current gen games.

I reallly like this matrix concept you came up with. It really helps to give a good, concise overview of how different cards stack up against each other.

As green as a meadow in the summer. :D

(If the rumoured specs are true)

Apart from xbit labs I wish all other hardware sites would use more common processors.

i agree, as that would give us users a better idea of the performance to expect, but theyre really just trying to even the playing field and make it less cpu bottlenecked (even though im sure they still are).

This is even better than spend all day reading reviews. :) People should never buy hardware without a visit to nvnews and look for MikeC consolidated list of benchmarks. :D

As a mildly colorblind man (20% of the male population share my disability, and ordinarily it does not even manifest itself as a disability), i can say i can't visibly see the difference between the red and green colours. I'd suggest a red-vs-blue theme because they're the most distant colours but sadly, as it's drawn and even with the wonderful amount of effort MikeC put into it, it does me no good :(

Good point...stay tuned, I'll post back here soon with a colorblind-friendly version.

There a post on another forum where the guys 6800 died so he put in his old Geforce 3 64mb card and FEAR performed good.

Why are the Anandtech results for Splinter Cell:CT so much apart from any other review? Lets see a chart with the x1800xt in there as well.

Their FEAR 4xAA results also seem to stick out a little.

My first post and somewhat on the flip side. I think both cards are good, but in all honesty the 1900 is the better card. The very last column of Xbitlabs tells the true story. Outside of Doom and Quake which will probably improve with mature drivers on the 1900, the 1900 just goes right by the 512 GTX. And as all the websites have reported raises the image quality level even further. Not mention its cheaper and plentiful. I reiterate, the drivers are not mature yet for 1900 series. I can't buy either lol, but I don't think there is much to debate, the 1900 is superior by quite a bit. FEAR is probably where most game developers say they want to go, that is increasing the visual detail and there you see the good stuff of the 1900. In reality though I don't think even the most hard core gamer would truly tell the difference except in certain situations. No question though that the 512 GTX SLI is still supreme though. Anyone got extra $1500 laying around they don't need ;). By the way I am using a 7800 gt and am very happy :)
