ITs not vbulletin itself, its the stats program that advert people need in order to pay money, to keep the server running. The stats program kills the server cpu, but it has to be done.

It may not be vBulletin causing the high server loads, but it *is* vBulletin refusing to serve a page due to the server load passing what its load limit is set at.

In global.php, there is a variable set with the admin cp, that gets checked with /proc/loadavg and then redirects to the error page if the load average exceeds the variable.

I was going to post the code snippits of these functions but then I realized that vBulletin is not free software. Whoops.

Well, if all else comes to fail, one could try what Spyke is saying. Sounds like he might have an idea what can cause a problem like this. As to advert software probs, I wonder if the box has multiple CPUs, and it's possible to tie the advert stuff to one CPU, or perhaps a couple, and then let the others run the other forum related stuff... Then again, not sure what hardware is being run, let along how many CPUs might be in the box/the mobo might support...

In any case, I'm not seeing the server too busy error message now, but I had this morning, prior to heading off to class, and forgetting about loging in, till I was done with my day...

PM me and let me know. I'm having the same problem
as you guys with my site. I've moved us a bunch of times
over the past 9 years. We've hit a wall again and need to move
once more. :(

BTW... The planet suxs a big one. I moved from there last year
for the same reason.
