OMG, Nvidia is sooo evil and ATI is sooo good! I think I will throw my Nvidia card out and destroy it just because of that story on the internet. :p

I don't know if this is true or not but the first time I heard about this, they didn't mention the company and I would have bet that it was ATI they were talking about. It's hard *not* to think that since they've got guys like DW and HB registered on just about every forum on the planet always trying to keep the forums pro-ATI. If that doesn't fit the profile of the article, I'm not sure what does. Not just a few posts, thousands of posts (at least for DW). It's one of the reasons I rarely venture outside of this site. Dealing with that is just tiresome. Anyway, couple that with the fact that ATi's employees post on several forums as well (even here) and I think it's easy to see why I came to that conclusion.

Heh, the article is a little surprising but it's not surprising seeing EB and B3D are behind it though. I'm pretty sure I could have guessed that if they hadn't spelled it out.

What are you talking about? It mentions Nvidia as the company...lol where are you coming up with this about ATI? It also mentions that NV works with AEG. - UH OH I think OWA is one of them :D

No, I was just saying the first time I read about this, 2 or 3 weeks ago I think it was , the rumor did *not* mention the company name. When I read it, I thought, oh, it's about ATI since it just fit so well. ATI has people like DW and HB (especially DW) registering at all the forums, establishing themselves in the forum community (thousands of posts) and then preaching the ATI gospel every chance they get. They seem intent on dragging down Nvidia/uplifting ATI and keeping forums pro-ATI. So much in fact, that I rarely venture outside of this site because I don't want to deal with any of that. Since ATI also has employees posting on several forums as well, to me, the article at the time just seemed to fit ATI perfectly. So, what I was saying is that *this* article surprised me by saying it's Nvidia in question. Before reading this article today, I would have been willing to bet that it was ATI since it seems to me that ATI has been doing this for a very long time.

I see. Well I'm sure both companies do it - just like "optimizing". It's all about who gets caught first!

I would also have guessed ATI. Their "crowd" is very loud and very annoying.
Thank god for this place. ;)

So nVidia's viral marketing architecture is massively parallel, with lots of MPUs (misinformation processing units) distributed across the web, each doing a small amount of work per clock, while ATi has taken the "brute force" approach, and utilizes a single massively overclocked MPU that goes by the name of Fuad @ the Inquirer.

It'll be interesting to see how the next generation of viral marketing architecture develops, especially in the area of unified truthshaders and selective memory controllers :D

The article said "well thought out and intelligent posts".

Those terms are not what I would use to describe DW and HB's posts

As is, I think DW has indeed toned down the number of sites he posts at and HB is only really posting on b3d and r3d. Been a while since I have checked out the forums at r3d other than the AIW section so I don't know who posts there anymore :(

How long has it been since they were around here? I could do a forum search, but Im too lazy :p

I remember seeing some random post from DW a couple years ago, but that might have just been someone bumping an ancient thread.

I dunno. I remember they were both banned for one reason or another a while back but I don't think its worth dredging up.

Yeah, I should add that disclaimer as well since I haven't really been following what's going on at other forums in a while. I also should add that while they were the first ones I thought of when I read the article, I really don't think they were being paid by anyone. I think they were more than happy to attack Nvidia for free. :)

Not saying the the article is true but this is the problem with that sort of tactic. It basically starts a witch-hunt making life for their fans much tougher.
