View Full Version : Kinternet
The last of my initial problems setting up SuSE, is that while it worked initially, Kinternet now produces two errors when I try to initiate it on the user desktop, it works perfectly on the root desktop: 1. the first error is something about smpppd not running, yet I did set it to run SysV-Init Editor. 2. The second error is a sigsegv 11 error. and a third problem is that I have to select this from the menu, instead of it residing in the system tray. How do I resolve these problems?
go on YaST2, then configure YOUR PPPOE connection. Done, there SHOULD NOT be any problems.

I took a look in YaST2, but all that I found that was either Network Devices or Network Services, these didn't look like they had to do with a dialup connection.
I took a glance in SuSe Help, and everything that I found there had to do with manual editing of configuration files. Since Kinternet doesn't even open, so that I can edit from there, this would probably be the only way to edit anything. I also found a setting for the modem itself, but that helps nothing.
Just as it quit, it began working again. Once Kinternet's icon appeared in the system tray, I was able to reconfigure it. Somehow, the setting had changed to manual detection of smpppd, after switching it to autodetection it works fine.
Try Network Devices --> DSL (if you're still on the 56k tech, Network Devices --> Modem)
I don't know if it's going to work on SuSE 9.2, but this works for SuSE 10.0

I had already configured the modem in this fashion with YaST2, before the problem that I previously had. Since it's working now, I no longer need to fix it.
