I'm considering these two, as well as looking at the prices. I'm not sure which one to get.. while comparing the performance to the price. Also, I'm planning to get the MSI version... should i get that or the evga?

I'm building a new computer, and just searchin for the best parts I could find. I'm also trying to keep the system at about 1100 CAD... but another 100 or 2 for better performance is no biggie.

Athlon 64 3700+ (Socket 939)
OCZ 2GB Dual Channel DDR Kit
Maxtor 250GB 16MB Buffer SATA Hard Drive
Antec Sonata II Case

MSI GeForce 6800GS 256MB PCI-E Video Card
or
MSI GeForce 7800GT

Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard ... I'm not sure which one to choose.

7800GT no doubt, 12 pipes Vs 20.

If you can afford it, the DFI SLI-DR (i think thats what its called) is the one most people consider the best board currently.

Id say go with that and a 7800GT and you'll be set for a while.

Or save yourself a little cash and just get the Evga 7800GT + Mobo combo deal. Im not sure if its available in canada though, so someone else will have to fill you in on the rest of that.

Thats in USD, but its just for reference... normally you'd pay around $430 USD for a good SLI board and a 7800 GT. With that deal you save $70... $90 if you use the mail in rebate.

Do you think the DFI SLI-DR board would be better or MSI Diamond Plus? I've been seeing some good comments about those... and I'm just planning to get the whole system at a local store.

If you are planning on doing heavy overclocking, don't settle for any less than the DFI, if you are not, they are both good.

The DFI is probably the best board you can get. If its available, get it :)

Look here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=801604&postcount=12) for the difference.

in short .. the Expert is better.

Athlon 64 3700+ (Socket 939)
OCZ 2GB Dual Channel DDR Kit (Might be lowering this to 1GB depending on my budget)
Maxtor 250GB 16MB Buffer SATA Hard Drive
Antec Sonata II Case
MSI GeForce 7800GT
DFI-DR Expert

This would be pretty good right?

I have 1600 to spend on this and a monitor.. any recommendations on monitor?

Venus looks to be the best among them, or at least the latest model.

Add/Edit: Seems like no one has the Venus just yet. It could be considered the next best DFI board up to date.
