View Full Version : GF7900 spec?
7900gtx:
nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB (G71) GPU is expected to be released on March 9th and will be produced on a 90nm process (compared with 110nm for the G70). The successor to the GeForce 7800 series, the G71 is expected to feature enhanced clock speeds over the 7800 series and a 32 pixel / 8 vertex shader design. The G71 is expected to feature a core clock speed of 650Mhz with a memory clock of 1.6Ghz.
It is currently expected that there will be two versions available:
GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB - Possibly 32 pixel pipelines.
GeForce 7900 GT 256MB - Possibly 24 pixel pipelines. Launched March 20th.

nVidia GeForce 7600 (G73) GPU is expected to be released in March 20th . This GPU is expected to be a triple quad (12 pixel shader) version of the G71 core built on a finer 90nm process. The rumoured core clock speeds of this part is 500MHz interfacing to 256MB of memory.
There are expected to be two versions of the GeForce 7600 series:
GeForce 7600 GT - 12 pixel pipelines.
GeForce 7600 GS - 8 pixel pipelines. :D
I Really hope they release a 7900gt with 512mb memory. i will definately jump on that.

Damn. The 7600 is the smallest triple quad card that I have ever seen and look at that tiny heatsink. The "leaked" specs of the 7900GT and GTX are quite impressive too. Props to Nvidia if they manage to deliver the cards at these specs AND at decent availablity.
Why no pics for the 7900 yet ?
The 7600 is about the same size as a X1600 card.

Is the 7600 still 128 bit memory? I looks very small even for it to have 128 bit memory.
Yes thats a 6600GT PCB. Memory should be around 1.4~1.6GHz

What are your sources on the 7900GTX? I was thinking of getting an X1900XTX (although I hate their fudging drivers!) but I'll happily wait if it's hard-launching by March 9th???? :)

I'm in the same boat w/ you keith but I'm gonna stick it out for reviews on the 7900 first.

If it does HDR + AA then I have to rethink about it again. Maybe I sell my GTX's and get one 7900 GTX. And than as soon as G80 hits back to SLI.
I'll wait for reviews.
Nice! :D I will get 2 for sure. So we can go back to bottlenecking 3DMark06, and force futuremark to release 3DMark07 early :D
In all seriousness, I am unhappy with my COD2 and Fear performance still... I want 1600x1200 4x/8x dammit! :D
The 7600GT looks like it may be a decent card @ 12 pipelines, on a passive design :D Nice.
Damn, that 7600GT is sexy, I may have to pick one of those up over my 6800GS if it performs better.

What about the memory speed for the 7900 GT ? & What about the price ?
We should def see leaked numbers within a week or 2

Yeah, definitely makes you realize how big the top of the line cards are. Geez, those are so tiny.

I'm doubting we'll see fp16 HDR+AA on this board, but I might consider dumping this XTX if it does.
Yea, I don't think we are going to see 16bit HDR+AA till G80.

Has there been any word on the difference between G80 and NV50? What exactly is going on with these two new cores? Any info?

Man, ANOTHER 256Mb card? God dammit... I want a 512. Ive been using 256MB cards for 3 1\2 years :thumbdwn:

Yeah, it better be well under $400 if its only 256mb. The X1800XT, X1900XT and X1900XTX all have 512Mb of RAM. You can get a x1800XT for under $450 and the performance is pretty damn good.
I reaaallly hope nVidia can pull this one off. They need better performance than the ATI cards while also having competitive prices. If they can manage that with 512Mb of ram on the GT, then they have an easy win.

I wouldn´t be surprised to see 2 GT versions with 256MB and 512MB. It makes no sense to leave this spot in the market all in the hands of the compeditor.
