If you could only have one, based on the announced games, system potential and your "gut instinct" as to where the systems will be in 3 years time.

A thread was created when neither console were out, and people said wait till they both were out

Now we have a thread created when only one console is out, and once again people will say wait till they are both out

Compares apples to apples, not apples to apple seeds

What pushed me to get an Xbox360 at launch are a few games which were announced for it and that sparked my attention.

I might consider getting a ps3 but, right now, there isn't any game that makes me want to pre-order it. Plus, if it turns out it needs an HDMI compliant monitor I'm going to postpone its purchase even further as my current TFT is here to stay for at least three more years. :P

There's no chance it'll require an hdmi compliant monitor/tv. Requiring it would mean cutting off 80-90% of the european market, for the simple reason that right now maybe 10% of the tv sets in european households aren't hdmi compliant, and I don't see a lot fo people upgrading their tv sets in the next few months.

It could (and probably will), though, require hdcp for br playback...

I will be getting a ps3 and will be skipping the xbox. I have always prefered the playstation to the xbox Halo or no Halo.

It could (and probably will), though, require hdcp for br playback...So I wouldn't be able to use it as a standalone BR player unless having the image downscaled to 540 lines (current PAL-DVDs have 576 lines)

Oh, joy :)

Xbox360 for sure - Halo 3 is reason enough for me. In addition comes Xbox Live with all it's features and services, the ingenious comfortable controller and lastly, there are plenty of titles to look forward to for me - yep, I'm pretty fond of mine :D

Current HDCP enabled devices only display 1080P when the protocol is detected on BOTH sides. This leads me to believe that the PS3 will only display 1080P (both games and BR video) if HDCP is detected on the display.

As I told Bad_Boy in another thread, careful about the "1080p" TV you buy. Chances are you can't input a 1080p source into it.

I always end up buying them all ..currently own an Xbox360 and will get PS3 when its released.

Should of had a Both option in the poll.
