Did anyone notice this weird folder named swarren I found on Nvidia's ftp site? There is nothing in it but I hope It gets filled with something exciting. (nana2)

That folder is dated Jan. 7/06, nvidia always puts things in thier proper folder.

Why are those scores so different?

I take it the 2nd one is with SLI.

*Edit: Oops the first one is 3Dmark05 and the second one is 3Dmark03. In that case not too shabby results ;)

The second pic is 3DMark03, first is 3DMark05

Does that mean you'll be leaking them? :)

what is the 7600GT supposed to cost?

mobilenvidia

nVidia hardly ever releases a driver ending with zero. (83.90)
This is the first driver of that series.
The last driver ending in zero was 28.80 waaaaay back in Dec '03.

This is a driver nVidia sent out to developers/media to test new products.
nVidia from their feedback will make adjustments then release or maybe send away for WHQLing.

Quite often OEM's are sent the first series of a driver, like Laptop manufactures, these often contain all the OEM INFs that are sometimes seen.

Im not sure, but since a 7800GT is already available for $250, Id say it will cost around $200 - $250 MSRP. People, correct me if Im wrong here. Pretty nice results for such a small card and I would have love to see the temps too, there might be some headroom for overclocks as well.

I have 9 sets that end with 0

Is 560/1400 not overclocked already? And as for his scores, shouldn't a PCI-e 7600 GT out-perform an AGP 6800 GT? Those scores are about what I get on my setup, matter of fact, I think my '03 score is higher than his. Only thing is, my cpu is a 3200+ and his is a 3000+, but still.

I'm scoring around 5700 with my PC... so it's not that wonder score getting less with newer and supposedly better parts...

I have no idea what the stock clocks are suppose to be. I remember some leaked numbers for the 90nm 7 series but I cant remember the clocks for the 7600GT anymore. AFAIK, Nvidia doesnt produce any 6800GT and Ultras anymore, so I kinda expected 6800GT-Ultra scores from the 7600GT. Very impressive numbers, especially IF these are stock clocks and IF the card is really having "just" a 128-bit memory interface. My unlocked 6800nu (16/6) at 390/900 is missing around 600 points on both 3Dmarks in comparision but obviouisly I do have a slower CPU.

Edit: Stock clocks seem to be 500/1000, so 560/1400 are very impressive, especially on the memory side.

AFAIK 3dmark scores don't really care too much about memory bandwidth. For example, the 6600 GT SLI has the same amount of pipelines as a single 6800 Ultra, but half the memory and half the bandwidth. Yet the 6600 SLI setup still manages to outperform a single 6800 Ultra in 3dmark (because of the extra 100MHz on the 6600GT core clock). Now when higher levels of AA and AF are applied is where the extra memory bandwidth may start to show a difference.

i've been waiting on a new driver to do a clean install with for a couple weeks. been kinda slow lately.

I'm waiting on a new driver that doesn't benchmark slow. The best or fastest set for me, so far, is the 81.98. Everything above that has scored very low in all benchmarks compared. Some say that the late 7x.xx series are good, but I haven't benched those with my 6800 GT and doubt I will since it won't be in my system after tomorrow. I'd like to see the 83.90 set as well. I did get my 6800 GT up to 422/1140, but have since moved it back down a bit to 410/1100.
