View Full Version : R350 hype is already starting!
Here's a rumour for ya: early R350 silicon qualified @300MHz a couple of months ago (early RV350 came back from TSMC in the same timeframe). Current samples are running at 425MHz+ and could qualifiy as high 450MHz.
MuFu.
Edit - wrote "as high" four times due to too much coffee

450Mhz? Is it 0.13 then?

Nope.
And Uttar... it is just a rumour and not a "rumour ;)" this time, buddy.

I see :)
Well, even at 375Mhz and with 350Mhz DDR1, the GFFX with 20% faster drivers is beaten. So it sounds like the performance crown won't be back to nVidia so soon.
The NV35 ";)" sure sounds impressive.
I'm however also very interested in that technology for the R400. It sure sounds interesting from the little we know ( and no, I've got no source on that... Ah well! )
An unified shading architecture ( finally! ) would be an excellent thing.
I'm currently having a few ideas about the NV35. however. I think it sounds like nVidia might be able to have a few interesting optimizations in it. It sounds like it's about time to change texture compression methods, so that could be possible... But unlikely.

please don't start hype.........you'll kill the card just like the people over hyped the nv30. there should be some new rules here for not hyping cards to be something they're not.

Psst, we at nV News try to overhype ATI cards in order to have revenge on what happened to us with the NV30 :) j/k

or an alternate theory, Uttar wants to hype up both nvidia cards and ATI cards so they don't live up to expectations.....because he works for Bit Boys :eek:

Yes. I work for Bit Boys. Now go out and buy a Kyro! Don't ask why. Do it! NOW! :P
*speculation*
The NV35 looks a lot like the NV30... Without any of the problems people are saying for the NV30 :D So that includes: Pure non-ordered 6X MSAA mode, fully rotated pure MSAA 4x mode, 16x Aniso becoming possible ( with 16x Aggressive being comparable to ATI's 8x Performance, finally )
Also, Static Branching possible in the PS. Not sure about Dynamic Branching, however.
25% more per clock Vertex Shading power.
20% faster clock rate ( -> 600Mhz ) for high-end card.
Intellisample 2, including gamma-correct AA &
What does this give us? 60% of the no AA/Aniso performance when using 6x AA & 16x Aggressive Aniso, and that's in next-generation games. With the GFFX at 4x AA & 8x Balanced Aniso ( which is actually lower IQ than what I'm saying for the NV35 ) ,
Interested yet?
*/speculation*
Here, that should give an excellent advantage to BitBoys & PowerVR ( I actually work for both! But don' tell them :D )
Oh, and that wasn't really speculation. That was my wishlist :)

NVIDIA overhyped the NV30 themselves
ATI's R300 lived up to virtually all expectations and more!!
the R350 is probably the least hyped card ever imo
considering it could outperform the NV30 by a min 20-70 percent margin depending on how well they can tune the core etc
I reckon ATI are being very low key when they throw figures like 10% faster than NV30 etc cuase they could bloody well acheive that with driver opitimization with the pro cards!!
