All my crap was ruined and I am currently trying to replace it all. I had this monitor:

http://www.necdisplay.com/products/ProductDetail.cfm?Product=230

It's out of production and I can't find one anywhere. I loved it. I've googled my ass off and can't find one for sale ANYWHERE. Any tips? Don't suggest an LCD either as I think they look like **** compared to the way this thing looked, including Dell 2405's and Apple 30" displays. I ran this monitor at 2048x1536@85Hz and it was heaven.

WHY do they stop making CRT's when LCD's are *still* inferior displays?

I can't help with your questions...except the last one...Money.

Have you tried checking craigslist or anything like that? It looks like an incredibly badass monitor, but--apart from not being able to afford it--it would probably crush my desk if I even thought of putting it on here. My desk has a weight limit of 50lbs, and my 17" CRT easily weights 40lbs, and there is plenty more weight on this thing already.

I'm waiting for the day that it just gives out. It's not a matter of "if"...it's "when"...

Good luck finding one though. :-\

evilchris I have just the thing for you: http://www.sony-cp.com/en/products/crt/f_professional/fw900/

The Sony GDM-FW900 is basically what I call the PC equivalent of the Sony KD-34XBR960 (I own both so I would know).

The closest to that monitor is either the above, or the NEC FE2111SB

Sweet Jesus, that monitor is $2000? It looks amazing, but wow...

Does it come with free rootkits as well? Or are those an additional fee?

Lucky bastard! :p

Of course, I don't really have a desk that wouldn't collapse under the weight of that thing, so I'm SOL. Ah well.

You ladies really need to get a Dell FPW and stop saying LCDs are teh suck. :p

Seriously though, what about one of those professional CRTs made by LaCIE or something? I've heard a lot of good things about them.

Iiyama still make 22" CRTs which use that same tube I believe.

I can't find the NEC, Mits, or Iiyama of this Diamondtron tube ANYWHERE.

Damnit. It's the last part of my PC I need to get.

Yeah I fired off some questions..

Worse case, I'm out $250. Worth it to replace what I had. The 2070SB is identical to the FP2141 I had.

sometimes they have unused, but overstocked, sometimes used..I bought my NEC FE1250+ used, but man, it looked newer than the CRT it replaced!

most come with 6 month warranty...some with 30 days

Wow gret site, thanks! The Sony 24" is tempting, but I don't think I want a 16:10 PC monitor since PC land is still primarily 4:3.

Hopefully some Diamontrons of the type I'm looking for will show up soon.

At www.surplusproduct.com they have a Dell P1130 for $149 and it is shipped ground for free ,It is a refrubished model ,but they offer a year warranty on this monitor even tho it is a refrubished one ,I have bought a couple of CRT monitors from them and they shipped it fast and they look brand new ,The Dell P1130 has a Trinitron tube in it and it goes up to 2048x1536 at 85Hz ,I have bought a Viewsonic P225F and a Dell P1130 from them and I recived them in 3 days with ground shipping,Hell it is hard to go wrong with a Dell P1130 with a Trinitron CRT tube with a .24mm dot pitch and a max resulotion at 2048x1536 at 85hz for just $149 and they offer a year warranty on it even tho it is a refrubished model, but the two that I got look brand new and work perfect.

No thanks, no chance of matching the picture quality of the CRT's we've been talking about :)

LaCIE CRTs are quite good. My brother has one and image quality is amazing however I prefer LCD myself. :)

Only problem with LaCIE, they no longer make CRTs. :( Might as well try and find used ones.
