I would like to upgrade my P4 Northwood, and am unsure if I should wait for AMD/AM2 or Intel's newer system.
I currently have a a P4 2.4 Northwood, 1GB Dual Ch DDR400, 120GB SATA disk, on an Abit IS7 i865 chipset motherboard and a 9800 PRO 128MB.
I am thinking of going big and want dual core....I do game, but I work more on stuff:
Athlon X2 4800+ or Dual Core Opteron or maybe even PXE 955 or Pentium D 930????
I don't know....I want good OS performance, so I can decode/encode audio, play DVDs, burn CDs, use my TV Tuner, capture video, run large databases, load up spreadsheets for work, but also be okay enough that I can play UT2007 later this year and I would like to game comfortably at 1280x1024 with 16xAF and 2xAA at least.....need input here, my Northwood is just irritating me quite a bit.
