Can someone explain to me why GF FX prices are so high in Europe and for that matter Australia?
I've been seeing forcasted prices of 600 Euro on some cards, which translates into something like 625.00 american.
What's going on?
Anyone?

Probably just because they know people will pay it.
If people dont buy it, itll come down..if people do theyll keep charging it.

Mainly because by the time it get's this far it's had seven shades of sh*t taxed out of it. And we have to pay for it.
They would be pretty stupid to try and flog the GF-FX at 600€, the 9700Pro was/is about 400€+ One thing to keep in mind also is that the prices in europe are inclusive of sales tax, here in France thats 19.5%, 17.5% in the UK. I myself would expect to see a price around 400-450€ in Europe, and if they are higher I wouldnt expect them to see that many, and alot of people might deciede to go with ATI instead, which I myself might end up doing. I will wait and see how the AthlonXP2800+ drives my GF3, I might even be able to hold out until the NV40, which would be wise, if Nvidia move to a 256bit bus
Maybe the prices quoted are for 256MB versions? Other than that its odd that quoted euro prices are so high! Isn't a qaudro fx 1000 quoted around £600?

there are no 256MB versions...no doubt nvidia will release some at a later date, maybe four months later. But not now. If you have seen a website advertising a 256MB version post the link.

This card is worth 300-400$ max, with such little bandwith the logelivity is seriously doubtfull.

The following link was posted in a thread about 4 pages back, the link is still up, dont know if it is 100% correct, but you asked for links to sites advertising a 256mb version of the GF-FX ;)

I cant find an email address on the contact page:
http://special.reserve.co.uk/common/about/customerservice.php
so I cannot email them to confirm the 256mb bit...BUT i HIGHLY suspect they are mistaken, since Nvidia have not even mentioned that spec with GFFX boards.
Still, I have been wrong in the past, but my two cents says at best its a typo, at worst a deliberate lie.
But if you get one that has 256mb of RAM more power to you :)

Lol, if you had the cash you could ship it here then I would send it on to you:cool:
Ack I hate tax on products here, with small items for a low price you dont really notice it. Get something over £200 and it hits you like a tonne of bricks:mad:

It amuses me that AMD makes Athlons in Europe but we get them last and pay the most.

Damn ur a nice bloke Vamp ;)
You guys better thank your lucky stars that you don't live in Australia.
You will end up having to pay 1 months pay (for A LOT of Aussies) for a GeforceFX. :)
It will be over $1K easy. All high end nV products start out like that.

And why wait that long for that 256 bit bus? Get a Radeon 9700! :P j/k, you know I'm not a fanATIc.
Anyway, are you saying the first card to have a 256 bit bus from nVidia will be the NV40?

Yes, but the prices here(my place) for AMD are amazing, faster AMD's are cheaper then slower(XP2600+vsPIV2,6Ghz) P4's

Just a thought about the NV40  I would think that the NV35 would be a speed bump of the current core, then the NV40 would have to be 256bit bus, I mean ATI have already got one, but I guess we will have to wait and see :p
