do the duel core run hotter than the single core? .. may sound a daft question i think they will . but i get others say they run the same .. but the duel has 2 chips on it???

also the lower end duel cores have the same cooler as the single core .. AND NO COPPER BASE!!!!

Yes amd now. the X2 runs about as hot as a Newcastle core processor so runs hotter then a Venice core, But thats with both core loaded, when only one is loaded then it's the same as a Venice core.

They only run hotter when they're dueling.

I can't see that mine runs any hotter then my opty148,right now my 175 is at idle 25c at 2.7g with 1.5v ,I did'nt use the stock heatsink but the one that came with it ,I am sure it would have done a great job just looking at it,with the copper base and the duall heatpipes. But it just makes sence if both of them are working hard in a game or some other application it is going to run a little hotter then just one core.

With the Zalman Reserator1 on cooling duty, running Prime in "dual core" (both cores pegged at 100% x2hours) my Optie @ 2.42ghz 1.45v maxes at 48C ...no heat problem here ;)

My x2 3800 with stock cooler runs about the same temps as my 3500+ did on air. Mid 30s at idle, high 40s under full load, with the CPU fan on lowest speed. They did a great job with the dual cores, for sure.

I have a p160 case from Antec. I used the same case for my 3400+ and my current proc, I also have other components in my system which are running hotter than my previous setup and it is still cooler, typically by 2C or so.

Right now my CPU is running stock until it is broken in (see sig) but my CPU runs at 22c at idle and with both cores running 100% (with folding instance on each core), my CPU tops at 30c. Not bad for 2 cores but then again, I'm running water cooling not air.
