Yes I totally agree! Anyone who knows how to ride a bike can tell that most of these guys are moving very much at the limit of their bikes. Just look how they wobble around and these are Superbikes that cost well over $100.000 with the best suspension mods that money can buy.

I have some cool Isle of Man videos, I'd post em but that would be too much hassle. If you want to find some cool racing videos look up bapman's videos on putfile. Some cool stuff man:thumbsup:

lately I've been torn between the new Gixxer and the One:lol:

Wasn't there some guy that sold his house and gave up everything he had just to be able to race on that track?

here is a link to one... look up Motogp animals too. Sick vids:D

I like the Isle of man, just not enough coverage here in the USA :(

and to the NASCAR stab. Every sport is exciting in their own right, if you dont like it, you dont have to rag on it, just dont watch it! I like all forms of major racing. Champ Car, F1, NASCAR, Superbike, MotoGP, IRL,CORR, R/C off road etc. Even tractor pulls!

I rag on NASCAR because thats all I get here. SPEED channel is horrible with it, NASCAR this NASCAR that! there is a petition for SPEED aka NASCAR channel to actually include different types of racing in their programming. Sure NASCAR is nice and yeah... but you get sick of watching the same cars going around in circles for 500 miles over and over:lol:

Didnīt SPEED use to have motorcycle races? Like "Two wheel Tuesday" or something? I remember when I had my vacation 2001 over in the States, I watched AMA races on SPEED.

I guess NASCAR is like console gaming, basically THE branch that makes the most profit/money, but does not necessarly mean the most exciting form of racing (or gaming like in my example) for everyone. Iīm a patient person, and I watched a few NASCAR races, but honestly I was bored to death. The 30 minutes summeries were pretty cool though, especially if a race had many crashes.

yeah NASCAR has pretty much taken over SPEED. I remember I used to watch those races all the time also. I forgot the old name of the channel, but when it switched it started to go down quick.

really? SPEED now has the Champ Car rights to all television broadcasts, F1 is shown LIVE (friday practice, saturday qualifying, and the race, ALL LIVE!), they have the AMA Supercross series, the AMA road racing, World Superbike, MotoGP. F1 is on around 7 AM when it's on TV (that's normal since in Europe it's about 1 PM). Ya just gotta find the program listings :)

Yeah, speed used to have a lot-o-different programming. They even used to carry "Swamp Buggy Racing" from florida. They got bought by someone (I think it was first ESPN, then was spun off to FOX I believe), then it bacame soley about $$$$. They do have other programming, but they spend a fair amount of time on Nascar cause thats the biggest motorsport in the US. They do have the rights to Champ Car, but that series doesnt have any big names (short of Paul Tracy), and will soon be bankrupted. IRL is destroying them in the rateings and sponsorship moneys.

I am a big fan of ANY motorsport. I like Nascar, but I really love F1. I can't believe that US fans havent embraced it more. It is much more challangeing (not that NAscar is easy by any means), but F1 is really the number one motor sport in the entire world. But Speed carries the race live, sometimes at 4:00 AM on a Sunday, and then only replays it one time during the week. THANK GOD FOR TiVO. Bernie needs to rethink his US marketing if he really wants a US audience, which I really dont think he cares about.

The IRL is the one going bankrupt. Champ cars are on the rise! They are already out of chapter 11 bankruptcy, and is privately owned by Kevin Kalkoven, Paul Gentolozzi, and one other guy. The IRL is in debt, and Tony George is fitting the bill just to keep it afloat. The Indy 500 keeps the rest of the season going for them. Yes they have the sponsors, but Champ cars have the talent. Maybe not as big name stars.

As for speed being sold, it used to be called Speedvision. Privately owned, ESPN had nothing to do with it. Then FOX bought it, and made it a NASCAR haven. But, you have to give them credit. Before FOX owned them, how many homes was Speedvision in? NOW look how many homes carry SPEED?

Gerald Forsythe is the 3rd owner, and it is very debatable that they will be able to continue with the current level of attrition they are seeing among teams. Their saving grace is that they are trying to become more global then continental. They race more and more outside the United States, but seem to be loosing some of their premier races (Montreal, and Portland) based on the loss of some of the big teams and named drivers who have jumped to the IRL. Talent in those series is also very debatable, but both do have very talented drivers, but CART seems to have more international talent which honestly doesnt sell in the US for some reason. CART was hurt big time when Andretti and Team Green jumped. I've gone to a CART race every year for the last 11 years, and have seen their entries go from 45-50 cars per race, to 18 on the starting grid at Milwaukee last year.

CART's financial model of owning the engines and leasing them to the teams is really IMO dumb. Their trying to make money on both sides, when they truely should be a focused marketing company alone. Trying to make money by forcing the teams to buy your products, as well as force them to pay your sanctioning fees is the kiss of death in a free market society (Just ask the ASA series). "Buy our parts, pieces, and then pay us to race them", when the compitition doesnt do that, and is very much more affordable (naturally aspirated engines) is kinda crazy.

TV Revenues are prolly the biggest part of the equation in this case. Those revenues will drive sponsorship. IRL has ABC and ESPN this year, and CART has ABC and NBC, but the IRL packages was reported to be almost $100,000,000 more. That can be directly corrolated to sponsorship dollars for the major teams.

IMO CART is on the right track to get back to being a premier seriers, something I think they lost in the last 2-3 years. But in the US fans tend to follow th local boys, not the boys from Brazil, Eurpoe and others (sadly). If CART gets the deal with Bernie Ekelston and F1 that it is seeking, it will be great for them, but bad for the US cause they will effectivly become a world sport, not a continental one. In the US, IRL currently dominates, and actually is very finanacially stable (ISCA ticker), but until Tony George can leave his ego at the door, they will still be 2 seperate series.

As far as speedvision ownership. I always though they were first purchased by ESPN, but I am not sure on that so I will go with you on that, and I did know that FOX bought them not to long ago and your right, they did a good thing by getting them into more homes thru different avenues which really was a good thing. Here in the US NASCAR is the king, and they just went where the money was, which is what they should have done, they are a business after all.:D

Oh I know, CART needs some improvements, I dont like the leased engines either. I also read that Autoweek is reporting that Tony George wants to sell Indy Speedway (a big RUMOR!)

I read last night on Speed's forums, that CART is not going to sign the concord agreement for 2007 (when the agreement runs out), and CART will be able to race at any track F1 does!

I wont hijackthis thread any longer, This IS about the Isle of man LOL sorry AgentKay!

It is an amazing race. My friend and I were out today and tearing up back county roads at 140mph or so, and we would be like guys on mopeds compared to the guys at Isla of Man.

I donīt know exact numbers out of my head but one each year in the average wouldnīt surprise me at all. I do think more tourists die on the "track" when itīs opened to the public than the actual racers, but AFAIK the last few years were a little bit better thanks to the police and safety plans. RIP to all of them though.
