BAd artifacts on ASUS 7800 GT 256 MB

Anyway...

Have some disturbing issues on my rig. Artifacts ocuring from time to time, and whenever it feels like to. In windows for exampel. Just moments ago, I was about to enter a www-page, then it frooze up for a couple of seconds, the the artifacts came along. Messed up the picture in the shape of little squares, and when I tried to move a windows i just got worse.
Also, my monitor, a samsung 244T is having problems. It flickers from visible screen, to black, back to visible, and everytime displaying the "digital" text in the corner telling me it'srunning dvi, which it is. Just feels like it would be a glitch somewhere, like the cable is not in place...but it is.

1 dvd-burner, nec
3 fans

Everything is running at factory settings.


Please advice.

try running it on VGA just for the heck of it... i have a sneaking suspicion that it might just be the cable, and/or the actual port itself, it's worth a shot

Have you run a d-sub (analog) connection to the monitor to see if the flickering presists?

Do you have another monitor?

Maybe with another monitor both your problems will disapear, maybe they won't but then you can elimaniate the monitor as the problem.
