Wow if this is true then im a bit dissapointed with nvidia this time..

The performance boost over the previous "top" card isnt that great, but considering the $250 price drop and the fact that it SHOULD (I say should;)) be available in large quantities deffinitely makes it a nice release.

I think any speculation of a large performance increase and a huge price drop were a bit unrealistic.

i kinda see this more as nvidias way to stick it to ATI, not with performce, but at the checkout counter. this card will be cheaper than the current offerings with the 90nm.

for some of you this badnews.. but I see a pricedrop coming to the 7800 cards. Upgrading to a second 7800 won't seem like such a bad idea.

Didn't nvidia pull a fast one on the 6800 saying it was only a 12 pipe card?

I know I'm going to like it because I'll get 2 new ones, faster then the one's I have since the 512's were hard to find. Where do I buy?

I'd like to see 2 GT's up against a single XTX. Especially if the GTs overclock good.

In same cases even now, doesn't 7800 GT dual SLI will beat a single XTX? Anyone?

yep 7800GT SLI does very well....

i agree, it'll be cheaper than the 512mb 7800 GTX, but i don't think the 7800's will go down in price too much, i've heard production has already stopped and nvidia is priming the market to flood it with 7900's

For a non-512GTX owner , the 7900GTX will still be great for its price/performance.

I'm a little disappointed if this turns out to be true.

In some cases yes. Here's (http://www.behardware.com/articles/605-1/the-radeon-x1900-xtx-x1900-xt-and-x1900-crossfire-in-tests.html) a good review comparing the two solutions. Having switched from SLI'd 7800GTs@550/1300 to the card in my sig, I can say I'm very impressed with the X1900XT. Performs as well or better in the games that are really taxing (FEAR and COD2).

Wow this is disappointing. If true I will stick with my current setup or move to an X1900XTX.

Same here, I've got 2x7800GTX-256 @ 420/1500 and see no real reason to upgrade to 2x7900GTX-512 and gain as little as 10-20% more speed.. Does not make sense. 30-50% would make sense.

Well, I still hope the difference will be bigger and I will be "forced" to upgrade :-)

I do not consider X1900XT, as there are many reported driver problems on ATI forums and unstable performance (AoE3 or B&W2 fiasco, e.g.)...

Well, if the 7900GT is as good or better than then 256MB GTX but with more oc'ability- I'll probably drop down two in this new rig I'm building. ;) It'd be even sweeter if the NV5 Rev. 3 will fit on these bad boys! :D :D :D

I'll just water cool my BFG 7800 GTX 512MB SLI setup. I might not have the
7900 GTX but, at least I'll be near those speeds with water cooling. I wonder if the 7800 GTX could be flashed to the all new 7900 GTX bios. I wouldn't think this could be achieved since the 7900 GTX chip uses a different GPU chipset. But, you never know! (nana2)

Its an entirely different die size... theres no way it would work.. at least I think so.

I would not even dare to risk it! lol But I assume you could SLI a 7900GTX512 with a 7800GTX512. SLI isnīt that picky about BIOS versions anymore, right? Sure the 7900GTX would run the few % slower but still.

Maybe the 7900GT will be even more interesting for the folks who have just 1 7800GTX256, especially when the 7900GT ends up being cheaper than an "old" GTX256.

Just some silly thoughts of mine.

Bios versions no, but cores, yes. I'm not too positive you would be able to SLI a 7900 and 7800...

I couldn't wait :(. I read that this would be competitive and slightly slower than the ATi equivalent so I went ahead and.... (well see sig). Now I'm facing buyer's remorse :(:(. I can still cancel by Friday, I just wanted a card for SPRING BREAK. YEAH!

Im thinking I might get an SLI board and a 7900GT if it turns out that they overclock really well... though I do want a 512Mb card... choices choices :(

Now that GRAW is pushed back, I guess Oblivion will have to showcase the power of these babies. I'm still pretty ticked about this GR3 thing. The same exact thing they did with GR2, then... canned.

Oh me too... me too :D

I should be getting my new PSU and my XP-90 (heatsink) in the next 2 days, so I'll probably play with my clocks a bit then update my sig a little. In a couple weeks there will hopefully be some big changes though :D

Ive been thinking about it some more, and I reaaaally reaaaally hope nVidia can pull something really good out of their asses with the 7900GTX. I would much rather get the best I can get and be pleased (a very fast 7900GTX) than have to either settle for less (7900GT) or convert back to ATI (x1900xt) to stop from feeling ripped off.

I'll get real picky real fast if a $500 graphics card doesnt feel like its worth it over the lesser cards... but I also would be disapointed if the lesser ones didnt give me the performance I want in Oblivion (that is the only thing im upgrading for).

Time will tell I guess... come on nV, stomp that x1900xt. *crosses fingers*
