GEforce FX5200 always identifying screens as the same

Card: Nvidia GEForce FX5200
OS: Windows XP
Drivers latest

The card control panel and OS display control panel detect both screens and allow the set up of all types of views. But the screens are always clones of each other (clone view is NOT set).

The reason for this is that both screens are always identified as the same on a self identification request from the GEForce Display wizard panel.

For example two monitors are connected . One showing in configuration as

L90 + DSUB and one showing as Analogy Display

When selecting identification both screens are labelled as L90+DSUB

has anybody else had this problem?

I can't give you a solution, but a couple of comments. I'm currently using the GeForce 6200, but I also have an FX5500, and I have found no difference between them as far as this kind of thing goes. Just for reference, in display properties, mine shows the monitor as one option, which I have set as the primary. The second is to my TV as secondary monitor. The only thing that comes to mind, besides what you mentioned, is on the settings tab of display properties, do you have the "extend my desktop to this monitor" option checked, when viewing the settings for the secondary monitor?

the things you mention are all set up correctly at the moment and the system has been restarted a number of times for those settings to be picked up.
