I was reading through the threads and alot of people are complaining about the fact that Nvidia coming out with a card that "isn't as fast as it should be". Alot of people here would rather pay $599 or $649 for a "slightly" faster 7900 GTX than it is. However, I dont think you guys are seeing the REAL potential of the prices we have here.

7900 GT is 300 bucks!!!!! Let me repeat. 7900 GT is 300 bucks!!! Thats a 24 pipeline card? Now lets see here.

$300+$300 = $600

Now Imagine if the 7900 GTX was slightly faster than it is.... It would be around the SAME price as TWO 7900 GT cards. I can promise you two 7900 GT's will be faster than any 7900 GTX... even if it had 32 pipes!!!!!

With that said, I see it almost retarded to buy one $499 7900 GTX. For a hundred bucks more you have a 7900 GT and ALOT more speed. I am seeing the 7900GT as the next 9800 pro or 6800 GT. Whose with me? :D

The price performance ratio is AWESOME, especially considering that the OC potential won´t be low. After all the GTX cores have to do 650mhz + 50mhz headroom. So if the other parts on the GTs PCB are high quality parts, I think GTs should clock to 550-600mhz and not necessarly need WC either.

7900Gt will be a killer card in its price point - im with you on that.

We'll see when they come out... supposedly the 7900GTXs are hitting 700Mhz on the core now. 7800GTXs were getting about 30% performance increase from SLI in most games from what I read. The 7900GT has almost identical specs, so its safe to say that itl perform about the same. The 7800GTX512 (which is clocked 150Mhz slower than the new 7900GTX) is probably no more than 10% slower than 2 GTX256s in SLI. So if the 7900GTX is now 8-10% faster (well, plus another 50Mhz if they overclock it) then 2 GTs will probably only be a tiny bit faster.

2 7900GTs that slightly outperform a GTX, use twice as much power, have half as much memory and cost $100 more doesnt really seem worth it to me. If they overclock well, thats what will make the difference.

It also depends on the type of cooling the GT has. Judging by the low clock I'd say it's a single slot cooler which probably can't handle 600mhz. Of course there are always aftermarket coolers but not many would be willing to risk damaging their card.

Perosnally I hope the 7900GT performs slightly lower than the 7800GTX so I can still sell my current cards without dropping down to sub $300 level...

I'm skipping this generation out, waiting for the next.
Just can't see the point in splashing out until AM2 drops, then i'll go all out.

I just upgraded to a EVGA sli mobo / single 7800GT for a little over $300. Great bang for buck.

I'm waiting for AM2 and Vista before I buy anything else. I may pop in an AMD X2 in the interim once the prices start dropping in anticipation of the AM2 release.

I wouldnt worry about that... if youre going to sell them on ebay, just check the completed auctions for similar items. People that shop on there tend to spend far more than they have to, and you usually wont see the effects of a new product release for a couple months.

I usually sell on the forums, but now that you mention it I am sure there are way more retards on Ebay.

 Yep... on the forums, people usually only go for smoking deals because we've already talked about the best places to buy things retail. On ebay you just have to say "like NEW" as in "it works and I have the box" and people will spend $50 over retail for it :p

Does 7900GT has 265MB or 512MB at that price point?

Only 256. I really doubt they could release a 512Mb card that cheap, though itd be nice :)
