I have been playing since early beta and am continuing through the retail till Vanguards. Its a great game if your into complete group oriented quests. Its not made for power gamers at all since the level cap is at 10, but if you looking for a deep story and great quests/adventures then I highly recommend it.
Alot of quests play out very differently and each class has a unique roll but the game doesn't force you to play with the ideal group. While the character models don't differ much in appearance they do have some great customization within the skills thanks to the D&D system. My rogue might not be the best fighter (with 8 Con I got no HP) but I am maxed out on disabling and unlocking so I can open any unbarred door (If it can be opened with a Key I can pick it).
I picked up the game.....can't wait to play tonight

Pick Fernia as the server.
Been "trying" to play since beta, but gave up on it due to time restrictions. Now I can't play for more than 20 minutes or so without the client app causing an error in itself and crashing. every 3-5 crash i get a lovely BSOD saying "nv4_disp.dll" as the problem. Personally I think the retail date should have been pushed back a month or so and did a bit more testing.
On the plus side, its a joy to play(when its working)

agreed, the game has been rock stable.
I'm trying out an Elf Ranger, I passed out last night and the servers went down for maintaince this morning....so I'm short on serious play time, but so far it has been great and I can't wait to get into the meat. :)

soe ****tiest company ever ? wtf are you on about ?
ive played a hell of a lot of games both online and and offline, and im rather impressed with SOE's attitude towards its fanbase, and its constant updates of the game, i love it.
building the teleport spires to KoS was the lastest live event and ive never had so much fun, in any game ever period. The whole server was involved over a couple of days, and at the end dragons popped in 6 zones, great time had by all
And the new AA system and KoS rocks, i havent tried pvp yet, but i hear they are having a blast.
i guess you didnt get into a good guild, or get any love from the devs, or travelled down the wrong path in game and had a few bad experiences but ive never had any probs with customer service, players or devs in fact the CS were quite helpfull the one time i ever needed em.
your like one of those people that comes into the chat room when the servers go down for an update and whinge about the servers being down arent you ?
so i'd like to know exactly what you base your opinion off ?
Im also totally addicted to eq2 :P

Lets see I played EQ1 for 5 years, they had a set policy against people who sold items or characters... they did not accept it at all. No matter if you were the seller or buyer, you were banned... end of story. Now? As long as you buy the character through their auction system on their custom server its all "a ok".
They also seem to change any feature or aspect of the game as long as people complain hard enough. Back in the EQ1 days, they said thats how the game was suppose to be. No choice in the matter.
How about rushing a game so early to the market that they have to do drastic changes to its gameplay system acouple months after release, causing confusion and just annoyance to its player base. They have done this now to ALL of their MMORPGs, especially SWG and EQ2. Both games had a steep system that people accepted.
To say you know SOE because you play EQ2 doesn't say much, They are one of the worse MMO companies out there. I hope Vanguards opens people's eyes to how a MMO should be.

Nah, They just did alot of class balancing that needed to be done, players are pissed because they finally were brought down to the proper level.
They never did anything on the level of what SOE has done to their games... Completly changed SWG, Changed its combat system twice, changed EQ2's combat system with rumors of a second go coming, made alot of drastic changes to spells and combat in EQ1 after the 4th or 5th expansion, created a horrible engine for EQ1 with luclin that had horrible animations and ate memory quicker then any virus could. They just ruined basically every game they ever worked on...

sounds alot like uo, and that is still considered the best mmo ever. Sounds alot like blizzard in their year long beta. you knwo the two completely different games wow became? Now its the highest selling mmo game ever in na/europe. Sounds alot like what ncsoft did with lineage, which is now the highest selling mmo in asia/sp ever. Wierd the strangest thing is had blizzard not did what it did in beta, it would have went to 2 core audiances rather then having a bit of everything like it does now. and EQ2 would be the highest sub based mmo in na/europe. Yet somehow people would still find ways of saying sony sucks and is a failure. the best ones are the servers that all buying selling through their market. People love to complain about that as iof it effects them if they play on non market servers.
The fact is people are just stating their personal opinions on these companies, which are based on experiances that upset them. They usually have nothing to do with how good the company is at trying to provide a good experiance for as many users as possible. In my opinion anything that expands the mmo market is a very good thing.

What issue? There is an issue if your computers date is incorrect... took me forever to figure it out but once I set it correctly it ran perfect.

Don't think so, Did pretty good at launch. Plenty of people playing and no short of groups.
I played a bit in the stress test and it seemed too robotic for me. The impression I got was a Guildwars with fees. My money will stay with Blizzard, like it has since release.
