thank god!!

being dying for a new driver for my GS for all of 24 hours now!!!!!

03-02-06, 09:40 AM
Coincides with the new Purevideo release today maybe?

Wonder what these new features are exactly.

03-02-06, 09:44 AM
well game profiles and the Dawn demo are fixed - woohoo!!!!!

03-02-06, 10:01 AM
Any settings for disabling dual core optimizations (known Quake4 problem)?

03-02-06, 10:14 AM
downloading now, oh wait, finished :)

03-02-06, 10:14 AM
Download links do not work. Anyone else got any other links?

03-02-06, 10:48 AM
Comparing to 83.90

3Dmark06 had a minimal gain, 3Dmark05 was the same.

DoD:S is the same.

So far they seem very good, i'm going to play some America's Army and see how they do there.

One thing I did notice was that in 3Dmark06 the gain was very minimal but the overall fluidity of the test seems better.

Video playback is fine, I have an older Purevideo decoder installed and it played back HD content fine with these, I'll upgrade to the newwest Purevideo later and see if anything new is added.

I hope water shore on de_aztec map isn't screwed up as it was in every beta release i tried so far. Good thing is they fixed the Anisotropic filter tray controls (now they act the same as those for FSAA :) )

03-02-06, 11:39 AM
Now where is the 64bit? :)

03-02-06, 11:46 AM
Sweet! Just in time for my fresh mobo install today.

EDIT: Added a mirror download on my site. Will only be up for today. I only did the English 32bit version for now.

Quick question... Does this release support the 6800GS AGP ? I just installed my new xfx with the 82.12 drivers, I just want to be sure I won't be stuck with them forever ;)

03-02-06, 12:30 PM
Hm anyone have a guide on how to get the h.264 working? Im guessing it works with only certin players?

The profile bug is still not completely fixed. I set up an application profile for grand theft auto san andreas and turned 16xAF, High quality, trilinear optimizations off and AF optimizations off, and turned on gamma correct AA. When I switched back to global driver settings my AF mipmap opitimization was on so I turned it back to off and it went back to default global driver settings. Weird thing is if I open the gtasa profile after it was made it does not change my global settings. Anyways, the profile bug is still there, they just made it slightly less of an annoyance.

I knew it.

H.264 is no good for those with crippled NV40 processors.

Quick question... Does this release support the 6800GS AGP ? I just installed my new xfx with the 82.12 drivers, I just want to be sure I won't be stuck with them forever ;)Ok of course it supports the 6800gs,congrats on the new card....we all know thats why you posted:D (nana2) :D

03-02-06, 01:32 PM
they left the 7800 gs out of the list of hardware supported on nzone.com even though obviously it is supported.

03-02-06, 02:23 PM
it is not supported in the release notes....

though i think you might be right. seems like the 7800gs is the 'red headed stepchild';)

03-02-06, 02:39 PM
I did some more testing. The image bug is only there if I play WMV-HD or H.264 in fullscreen mode. Other media types are working.
I enabled VMR. I had the same problem with the 83.90 drivers.
How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Turn off VMR Mode and run overlay mode!

03-02-06, 04:10 PM
Thanks for your reply.
Where can I do that?
I tried some settings in the WMP and it worked. But I didn't found such an option in QT. With 81.85 or 81.98 all runs fine!

I believe QT runs in overlay mode and there is now switch. WMP has the switch for overlay to VMR.

03-02-06, 04:13 PM
IS VMR or overlay better?
