To bad game will be released only next year :(
"m not going to get into dept with this, since telemachos have promissed me a babble some time soon, but our engine does indeed take heavy advantage of shaders. these features are found on all newer cards with radeon9700 and geforce fx having the latest implementation 2.0,.
but anyway, shaders are used for stuff such as the grass, water and realtime shadows, the later at which carsten and telemachos have worked extensivly at the last weeks. we realise the 'work in progress' shots are a bit empty and incomplete being from a world under construction, but the code is there, is running, and is looking really good - so we hope to have a few good shots to show off soon.
i think you will be impressed, the engine, the shadows and other shaderimplementations are really next to noone. "

"Maybe I'm wrong but does it only run because Tele or whoever did a bit of extra coding to make it? It's just that I seem to remember Tele (I think) saying that the engine now supports features which will not run on anything less than a 9700 or a GeForce FX, and I think he said that a card of this standard will be required to run the game at all. But makeing good effects doesn't mean game will be fun to play , something to think about
Looks sometimes are deceiveing .

if only it were that easy. good visuals don't make a good game automatically.

You generalise too much man. :)
Good visuals do make the game good to stare at for a while. :)

that wasn't a generalization. a generalization would have been "good visuals don't make a good game," throwing in the 'automatically' at the end makes it cease to be a generalization.

looks like this might be the first game to support DX9 features. don't know what capacity PS2.0 and VS2.0 will be used in though.
