I just ran all the updates for the Nero OEM. Some of this apparently went as expected, but InCD and the main burning ROM did not. InCD complained that there was already a version of it running, and said that it would have to be uninstalled before running the update, so I let it do the uninstall. I have not run the install again yet, because each time that I reboot, it pops an error box, saying that it couldn't be run. That is somewhat explicable, but when I first ran the main program, after the update, it worked fine, but later, when I restarted it, it said that the .exe was not the one that it expected, and suggested running a virus scan, and if okay to reinstall. I ran the scan and it found nothing. The question that is now in my mind, is if the OEM version is updatable in the first place? I ran the updates on top of the original OEM files, but now I think that I will try uninstalling everything, and just running the updates alone, but I was hoping that someone would know what to expect.

I have had this before.
I got around it by uninstalling the lot, running a registry cleaner, like the one with CCleaner... (free app) then trying again.
Also had this another time when it turned out the updates weren't compatiable with my OEM copy..... OEM Nero's are very hit n miss.

Thanks, I suppose that I should upgrade, but with Nero going at about $100, I know that I won't. Another thing that bugged me is that the update included Showtime, which would have been fine, except that it has no sound. It gave some options, which included buying the new version, but I'll stick with PowerDVD. I got the feeling that the upgrade was specifically designed to disable OEM functions, so I will probably do as you suggested, and uninstall everything, clean up and just reinstall the OEM without the updates. The only thing that I was really interested in, was to add the ability to add LightScribe, but that also appeared to be disabled.
