I have a HP Deskjet 722c. I'm pretty satisfied with it, I've had it for a few years now. One thing it does, though, that leaves me scratching my head is that when it's printing my computer lags.
Everything is slow....internet, games, apps. Almost unusable.
Are all printers like this? What does printing have anything to do with processor usage.

Parallel or USB? If it's parallel, you might want to make sure that you've got your parallel port set up as EPP or ECP in your BIOS. Otherwise, good question. My USB printer doesn't really slow things down for me (Win2000 and Red Hat 8.0 system)...but then again I don't really do a whole lot of printing on it.

Cheers,
JND

I got around the whole thing with my router. A d-link 704P with a print server. A whole 54 bucks at new egg, and I got the version with the com port, So if I ever need a backup dial-up modem, I am good to go. Supports your basic 10/100 full duplex network with a wan port hooked into my cable modem.

It's using a parrallel port, i'll see if i can switch those settings in the bios.
