so out of place with my Dell?

I hear some you guys talk as if Dell is the antichrist. I was gonna build my own pc but saw a Dell about $200 cheaper with th same parts. I have to admit the 250watt PSU sucks, But I did research and found out its as good as some 350 watt PSU's and will be able to handle the FX. I also have to say there customer service is good not great. There not like other companies who dont help you in anyway and aggrivate you. Dell reps atleast try their best; they just dont know what their talking about.

But everywhere I go I feel like even though I have the same parts and better than most I am looked down upon because of my Dell. "You over payed","Dell sucks man","He's Dell fan boy" "Go away Dell boy" and its everwhere.

I have had no problems and feel I payed good price at the time.

My system specs P4 2.53, 17" Flat screen monitor,1024MB RDRAM, 80 GIG HD, 48X24X48 CDRW, DVD 16X, Audigy 2, Ti4200, Monsoon M9.

Even with my addons which is only the 512MB Ram, Audigy 2 and DVD 16X I did did not pay over 1400. And keep in mind I bought this in september of 2001.

**New to the boards, sorry kind of peeved at another furum with the topic "who hates Dell".

hey you're an enthusiast of nvidia hardware, and that's what this site's about... I have a little thing against dell but not enuff to jab at you in the forums for it... If you enjoy your system, that's what counts... and I don't really think you overpaid that much ;) ...

stick around... everybody's fair and respectful around here.

Some people find deals--okay. Personally, I like the control and just the fun of building a box myself (I know every part intimately that way and can fix it better when something dies).

Plus, non-standard parts from OEMs really annoy me. Still, it's just a matter of opinion.

If i ever bought a package it would be a Dell, its not like you got a HP or Compaq.

Dell's are okay in my book.

It's nothing against you and your Dell, its just that most people at these forums enjoy piecing together their own systems and working on them. The fact that you bought a prebuilt makes you an outcast to them I suppose. That's just BS though, pay no nevermind. Its commonplace for these people to assume that since you did buy a Dell (or HP or what have you) that you don't know much about PCs. Just show off some knowledge and they'll ease up a bit.

Don't worry LiquidX, we don't tolerate that kind of thing here:)

LiquidX -

I used to own 2 Dells before I built my own. My entire division uses Dell Computers. They are probably one of the best OEM PC's you can get. My friends who doen't want to build their own get Dell computers through me too.

My laptop is a Dell that I've been nothing but happy with since the day I got it.

But for my desktop machines, I'm of the opinion that when you put together a system yourself, it gives you a great sense of pride and accomplishment. It's something you were able to do yourself (or with the help of a friend as the case may be). And nobody, but nobody knows your handcrafted machine better than you. ;)

But if you're all about deals or are not comfortable with building a machine yourself, I for one don't cr@p on anyone who buys a Dell. I wouldn't own a machine with their name on it if I didn't believe in the product. :)

Don't get me wrong, dell's are great. Except for two things- No AMD (Cost cutting, I know) and Non- standard PSU's.
