I think I understand. And I'd read about that upgrade stuff where instead of going to the store to purchase it, you just pay and download from your computer. Much like Valve's Steam. Not that bad an idea in my book.

And yeah, I look forward to running Vista as well. It'll be pretty awesome, I'm sure. ;)

It will be no worrys, It's a "Pretty" OS in my opinion. When u do finally get Vista be prepared for some of the bugs that will come along with it when it ships "There will be plenty for all :D "

I'm seriously considering building a rig with the G80 and a Conroe. We will have to see how they both stack up.

Well, I'm holding off on building a rig untill around my b-day next year (it'll be the best b-day gift I ever got myself! :D :D ;) ). Untill then, I'm just doing minor upgrades to my current rig to tide-me-over.

I'm thinking to go with Conroe and Crossfire as the numbers I've seen so far look very good. BUT, on the other hand, I haven't seen any numbers in regards to AMD's best offerings with SLi or CrossFire. As such, I'm still remaining neutral upon what I'll get.

As for Vista being a bit buggy upon first release, I'd be shocked s***less if it wasn't. I'm sure it probably runs just fine on all the systems MS tests it on, but they can't accurately produce every possible hardware configuration possible for testing purposes- thus the reason for those bugs, in my opinion. But MS seems good at releasing service packs, so I'll just download the SP when necessary. Overall, I am REALLY looking forward to Vista. :D

They havent really talked that highly of a chip since NV30. And we all know that was a hit!!!!!!!!!!....

NV50 had better not turn out to be the new NV30! I fell for that scam back then with the FX5900. I'm trying not to upgrade till AM2/NV50.

If you've already got a socket 939 A64, don't bother with AM2.

I'm still using Socket A at the moment. It's taking all I got just to hold out a few more months. :(

Vista has been delayed until at least Q1 2007 now.

Meaning what?the code base was **** and ms grew a brain and said we need todo better. im wondering how far this will push back g80 and r600, because dx10 is a vista thing. im also wondering if this recoding includes dx10?...hmmm

I know why Vista was delayed, I just didnt understand why it was brought up? I dont want G80 for DX10, I want it for its improved SM3 and faster core/mem.

Perhaps you do, but if NVIDIA see G80 as their first DX10 part then the schedule for it's launch may be very strongly influenced by the launch of Vista. So you can want all you like, NVIDIA may have other ideas. From their point-of-view it's not at all clear that they need G80 on the market this year.

do you guys think it has anything to do with the outrageous memory requirement to run Vista??

thats a good point. im betting it has alot todo with that. now that i think about it there have been alot of grumblings about the memory footprint from the partners. m$ likes to listen closely to there partners im betting this has something todo with the push back.

I would love the r600 and g80 to launch at the same time. Hopefully low prices for all of us.

You make a good point. If that is what Nvidia's thinking then i'll just get a 7900 to go with my AM2 for the time being.

BTW, did you guys know that More 7900 GTX 512's have been sold in TWO2 weeks then what the 7800 GTX 512's sold in FOUR Months! And there are more coming in as I write this. LOL The Channel Partners can't keep the ETail store's in "stock" no matter what brand you choose. Of course You can find a ton of 1900XT's in any store you look at. LOL I bet those Canooks are STEAMIN! (nana2)

Yeah but they will spin that scenario say that nvidia is having availability issues whilst theirs are not and their products are readily available.

yeah exactly I figured everyone would get it without spelling out but I guess only half their braincells were working.
