Got it in my shopping cart - just about pulled the trigger:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130279

Never spent that much on a video card before...

Can anyone talk me out of it and into buying the 7900GT instead?

How does everyone like eVGA for a brand name I have never used them before either? How the OCing and customer support?

Thanks,

rhuala

eVGA is awesome :D Great customer support, step-up program, Superclocked cards, etc.

And not only because I work there ;)

I would suggest you take a look at all the reviews on the main page before doing that. Make sure you'll be happy with what your getting. the 7900 gt has the same proformance as 7800 gtx and 7900 gt is cheaper!

Been staring at them for the last three hours... the higher end tests at higher resolutions the 7900GTX really pulls ways...

Depends what u game at. If u have a monitor that does 16x12 or higher the GTX is the best bet.

If u have an LCD at 1280x1024 then GT more than enough, anything else is massive overkill.

Also, bear in mind the 7800 series. Unlike the X1800 to X1900 the new NV range doesn't bring any new "architecture" to the table. If the 7800GTX falls in value it might be worth buying IMHO.

Don't do it. Get the 7800GTX. Not enough upgrade for the 7900GTX. Or get the 7900 GT

Ya get the xfx 7900gt extreme edition or xxx card, its like $330-340 bucks and matches the speed of the 512meg 7800gtx.
Mine should be here tomorrow :D

Cant link to the b-jorn3d review for some reason, gotta go to their website manually.

If I were u I would wait a couple of weeks then grab a 7800GTX.
The prices will fall now that the 7900's r out. :)

Woah, that's funy cause when I posted it, it was $475.00, must be in high demand for them to keep ratcheting the price...

Now it's at $539.00, wonder how it will change over the next few days...

If history is a good indicator, pricing will climb even higher.

Supply and demand will be the dictator.
