7800 GTXs with MSI K8N Diamond

This machine is just unstable as hell with these cards. Running dual core locks the machine up in X doing almost anything, running nosmp noapic runs almost correctly, although openGL across the Xinerama boundary between the two cards freezes if the window has focus. If you focus a different window it runs just fine.

Any suggestions as to what to try?

zander from nvidia suggested running with pci=conf1 as a kernel argument on a similar setup we have. That solved almost all our problems.

We also noted the very odd freezing behaviour.
