What do you have cash flowing out of every crevace? Dual Xeons are mega $$$$

What are you using it for?

For me I would probaly go with the Athlon just because it's alot cheaper and most the applications I use don't support dual processors. But if you're a big power user and into things like 3D rendering(3dmax, maya, etc.. not games) CAD or other highend stuff go ahead and get the dual Xeon. But those two systems aren't even comparable pricewise.

Either way you'll have a kicken system.

Nice choice of a hard drive. I was a bit worried when I got my 60gig Diamond Max 9 (got it in November I think), simply because it was so new that there werent ANY reviews ANYWHERE for it. I sure am glad that I got it now! The speed is amazing and its nearly silent (I can just barely hear it over my system fans when loading games).

Anyway, I would get the 2800+ system, but obviously getting *2* CPUs is always going to be better than getting one. But look at it this way:

Im going by newegg.com's prices here (im rounding too)-

Athlon XP 2800+ - $400
MSI KT4 - $140
1Gb PC-3500 - ~$400
Total- $940
(im sure you could save yourself $200 and not get much decrease in performance by getting a different mobo and get different RAM)

Dual Pentium 4 XEON 2.8Ghz - $470 x2 = $940 (yeah as much as the whole AMD set)
RDRAM\Dual XEON Capable Mobo - ~400 (only one cheap'o model available at newegg)
1Gb PC-1066 RAMBUS - ~600
Total - $1940
(you could save LOTS of money here by not getting RAMBUS)

HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! yeah right!!! Even if you got just ONE of those Xeons it would cost $500 more than the XP2800+ system.

hahaha, funny :)

why not add an nforce 2 mobo into the amd mix and wait a month and get a barton cpu?

I'd go with the Xeon. It'll have hyperthreading and it should still be faster than the 2800+. I'm assuming money is not a problem judging by the specs there...;)

If you've got that kinda money up the arse, the Xeons, but if you're like me, the 2800 all the way.
