Problem with GUI after upgrade

Hi there --

I installed OpenSUSE 10.0 onto a Compaq Deskpro Evo system with the KDE desktop, and the installation was successful. I then ran the Online Update and selected all updates. After the updates completed, I noticed the GUI desktop does not work. I then went to the NVidia website and downloaded the latest installer program. However, the installation failed.

Has anyone seen this, and know what the correct action to take is?

I had a similar problem. I ended up solving it by doing a reinstall. Only this time, instead of updating the nVidia driver from YaST, I downloaded it from nvidia website and installed it manually. Unfortunately I had to do all this from command line, but it does work fine now :-/
