View Full Version : MSI NX7300GS Review
my xfx 7900 gt 520 oc came with the 83.90 driver on the cd. but i basically just installed the 84.20 never installed the 83.90 is that a good driver or?
The 84.20's seem to offer good stability and performance. I have only been using them the past couple of days.

All right, I got the 7300GS back in tonight and ran a few more benchmarks as per requests. Now, I need to go back and redo the 3DMark05 benchmark because the card is now running at 550/810 instead of 560/820 due to the lack of MSI's drivers which allow for Dynamic Overclocking. While the reduction is slight, there may still be an impact on performance.
Also, I forgot to mention this in the review, but the drivers supplied by MSI did not allow me to turn off Multi-monitor hardware acceleration. Using the newly released 84.21 drivers, I was able to turn the card to single-display mode so this may have also affected scores.
Anyway...on to the new results...
3DMark03: 4560 3DMarks
3DMark05: 2163 3DMarks
Aquamark3
Triangles/sec: 11,244,357
FPS: 37.35
GFX: 4605
CPU: 9894
Total: 37,352
Doom3 timedemo1
800x600 HQ: 45.0 FPS
1024x768 HQ: 32.0 FPS
1024x768 Ultra: 29.8 FPS
1280x1024 HQ: 22.0 FPS
1280x1024 Ultra: 20.8 FPS
If people really want me to re-run Guild Wars and BFME2 to see if results are different, I will, but if anything, I think they'll be even higher now that I have the card in single-display mode. Remembering back to the massive hit FarCry and other games had on my AGP 6800GT, I can only imagine how much faster those games will run now. Again, let me know and I'll re-run to see if there are any differences.
EDIT: 3DMark05 score has been added and is slightly lower than the original score.
EDIT 2: Doom 3 scores have been added. The full version of the game was used and timedemo was run twice for each resolution to account for file caching and all that. I was really surprised with the results...not so much that the game could do Ultra, but that the difference between HQ and Ultra was almost nil. The only settings I touched were the resolution and then going between HQ and Ultra. I didn't specifically set AA or AF because I was under the impression the various quality levels took care of that. Let me know if I need to re-run anything.

Bump...
I talked to my old roommate and I'm just going to borrow Doom3 from him and run the full game's timedemo rather than dealing with the demo. I'll have results tonight...
