Just uncrated and fired up my 7900GTXs and did a quick comparison in 3DMark '05:
Default 1024 x 768 No AA
7800GTX SLI (Stock) = 12,328
7900GTX SLI (Stock) = 13,214
1920 x 1200 4xAA
7800GTX SLI = 8528
7900GTX SLI = 11,240
About 7% increase @ 1024 x 768 No AA
About 36% increase @ 1920 x 1200 4xAA

3dmark05 slowly CPU limited at 1024x768/0AA ? Kick ass increase at hi-res with AA. Congrats!

Nice results at 1920x1200! Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the kind words mates. I was hoping it would be interpreted as informative and not bragging.
The 7800GTX cards are they 512MB or 256MB?

They are the 256 flavor..........
Not much of a diffrence really when you consider the extra speed in memory bandwith and core clock 230MHz (5500 filrate increase) core clock and 400MHz memory clock (12.8GB bandwith) x2

LabShark, which XFX version did you purchase? There's at least 4 different kinds, what are your default clock speeds?

Dazz,
But I didn't upgrade from a 512MB 7800GTX setup. IMHO 36% is a decent increase when gaming at 1920 x 1200.
Keith,
I got the next to stock model.
XFX GeForce 7900GTX 512MB DDR3

Cool 'nuff. How do you like your Dell 30 incher?
Yeah that due to the dual link DVi's with the new 7900/7600 cards which we will see as a standard now :)

How many and which resolutions does the Dell do?
It has a rez of 2560x1600

Yeah - I knew that was the max. But what other options do are there for gaming?
1600 x 1200?
1600 x 1000?
1680 x 1050?
1920 x 1200?
1280 x 1024?
So on..............

That's great news! I had read somewhere that it supported only a couple of resolutions. Strange.

I don't see any benchmarks that are showing a 36% increase in gaming... you posted a synthetic benchmark... I wouldn't mind seeing an actual game comparison though...

It does seem to vary according to the game and the resolution. In NASCAR 2003 - the increase was about 10-15%.
7900GTX seems to shine when running at resolutions of at least 1600 x 1200 with AA and AF on heavily.....as long as the game is not CPU limted (like NASCAR 2003).
Here is a 1600 x 1200 link with 8x AA and 16x AF (13% increase in Half Life 2 and 25% in Doom 3)

You are correct - not every game will show a 36% increase. Sorry - if I was misleading. Maybe more 1920 x 1200 benchmarks will come out soon. I did not bench all of my games at 1920 x 1200 before the 7900GTX install.
