In light of this revelation at http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=66477 that some manufacturers have different geometric delta clocks for their cards, i thought i'd download latest NiBiTor 2.7 and the current 7900GT/GTX bioses and see what clocks they have

seems nearly everyone adhered to 50mhz and 20mhz delta for 7900GTX and 7900GT respectively except XFX

What does the delta mean? Geo is 20 higher or 20 lower?

I am concerned because I have an XFX card so I'm wondering if the Geo is higher or lower than other cards clocked the same

the delta is the difference in mhz between the ROPs and basically that's all i can say....... i don't understand this, but i've read an article that briefly explained it, it's very confusing though for me... google it

I explained a bit in other thread what Delta does . NV40 + gpus are complex with different domains.linky (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=839550&postcount=6)
What you see on webpages are Main ROP/Shader clock thats the one you overclock , Delta only affects 3rd Geometric domain.

Ok, so having a delta is a POSITIVE thing, as in Geo - Main = Delta (not Main - Geo)

In this case, does this mean that XFX cards aren't as good as the other ones @ same speeds? (core/mem clocks seen in nvidia panel)

1. Well if XFX is lets say
500 +0 delta
500
500

2. and some other brand
500 +50 delta
500
500

3. then yes other brand would have advange in Geometric domain. but if other is
470 +50
470
470
total combined of figure 3 is less then that of 1 , makeing 1st example faster even with delta at zero.

Hope that clears things up :p

Offcourse when decideing what to buy you have to include memory speed in the equation ;)
