Do you think Doom III will run better on a top-of-the-line Mac or a top-of-the-line PC? Why?

By the way, will there be a Mac version of the nVidia GeForce FX?

1. why is this in open and not games? ;)

2. GFFX for Macs--maybe. Only way I can put it. Heh.

3. PCs get better graphics cards first, and there will be a Linux version of D3... so yeah, Linux wins. It IS JC, who programs all his games on Linux first and then ports them, after all. :p (or at least he used to)

PC, because Mac doesn't even compare in the videocard realm. But why does it matter? Do you have a Mac?

What? Uh, last I checked the Mac has both the Ti4600 and the Radeon 9000 (but not the 9700 for some reason), as well as lesser models (Geforce4MX, Radeon 8500, etc).

and the 9700 is a lot faster than the gf4Ti4600 :D

i'm sure there is a reason, like ATI would rather focus on the Wintel market because it's bigger.

I think ATI is just still pissed cause Apple dropped them as their default GPU manufacturer.

Whoops, forgot about that. Well it will most likely run better on a PC because a 3.06 ghz P4 will just run it faster than a 1.25 ghz G4. Macs are good for a lot of things, but if you have a relatively fast PC, you're better off playing games on the PC. (Don't want to start a Mac vs. PC flame war :nono: )

Apple just released their new Power Mac G4s! Check them out at www.apple.com

They now have the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro! YEAH! They even dropped their prices for their awesome monitors, and increased processor speed and cache! SWEET! The overall price has also dropped.

9700 Pro is not yet available.

And by "dropping their prices," I assume you mean they're not $3500 for the equivalent of a $1500 PC box.

Except... they still kinda are. :p

$350 for a GF4Ti?

Uhhhh....

What, like the $3,483 comparably equipped Dell or HP/Compaq? :D

All ribbing aside. For what you are getting, Apples aren't that expensive. Just be sure to buy your ram and video card elsewhere, because like any large computer manufacturer, they are going to try to gouge you for 'em.
