The computer that was used for these pictures is an AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1024 MB DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9800PRO 128 MB

Thanks for those....but none of them are loading (page error).

Ahh, got one to load. You can see the difference. But what's weird is the lighting around one of the npc's face. He looks like he is glowing in the middle of the day. Hehe..oh well, can't wait until monday anyway.

I assume the extremly low detail ground textures on the sides are result of the 128MB vram or 1024MB system ram. The acticle mentioned that the game was quite playable at these settings on this older spec computer.

OMG, That Character model looks awful... I've seen better on the PS2.

I do like how the major detail draw distance is decently far. The water is disappointing though, I mean Morrowind's looked better...

Landscape is probably the best thing in the screenshots... still can't get over the character model though....

Iīd not judge the game on these pictures alone. It seems like OB forces lower textures and lower poly models for systems that donīt handle the better ones. People on the official forums are going crazy because they didnīt read the article and just checked out the pics. Again the purpose of that article was to show the IQ on an old PC. Nothing more.

I only had the pictures to judge since no one linked or quoted the article that explains that low resolution textures are forced... god I feel bad for people who are going to play the game on a low end system.

Game seriously looks years old on that rig...

Yeah, all of those pictures look horrendous compared to every other shot I've seen so far.

No problem. I would have linked the article, but its not only in german, addionally their site was killed because someone posted that article/pix on the elderscrolls forums a couple of minutes before i could post it. That german site even made video clips to compare the quality of the game in motion on that low end system.

Those are definately not the highest settings, despite what the source claims. Doesn't even look like HDR (or bloom) is in effect.

Erm... you do actually remember what Morrowind Pixel Shaded water looked like right? Totally inaccurate reflections and ridiculously close together waves? I mean - I've been playing Morrowind for the past couple weeks on and off to gear up for this launch, and I can safely say that when static at least, this water looks better. My real worry is that it won't be responsive like Morrowind water was, because basically no other game has been. Morrowind water in the rain or when you're walking through it impresses me to this day, because so few other games have even come close to following suit!

Personally, it looks pretty good to me. I mean, sure, there are some things missing that would make it look better, but I'm sure I can cope with that. Considering I'm one of the people who has to actually run the game on a system that's comparable to the one they were testing on, I think it's fair to say that my opinion matters a little more here than most of yours ;). You are right though... that character model looks pretty meh though, to say the least. Oh well!

Important: Some settings like HDR, grass shadowing and shadow details couldn't be enabled due to hardware reasons. Antialiasing was disabled for performance reasons, face shadows too (they mean self shadowing i would guess) because they looked kind of awkward.

Wow... glad I wont be running at low settings. That looks pretty bad.
