I rebuilt my machine yesterday with a new mobo, and where was the first place I checked once Windows was up and running?

One Windows repair, nf4 reinstall, and reset router/firewall to factory settings later it hit me that the forum was down.

Meh, yesterday I was on in the early morning but at 10 am couldn't get on... It remained off until at least 4 am today, though I was able to login before heading out to class today...

Wonder what was up considering the length of the outage... Several thoughts were going through my mind, from hoping I wasn't the only 1 (several other sites also went down though probably incidental, as one was trying to install a second server due to the popularity of the site killing their servers with high volumes, and another dunno).

Otherwise, I also got to remembering that great hack, and was well hoping it wasn't deja vu all over again :eek:

Just no one slashdot our forums here... I wouldn't even want to think what would happen to our servers, if their entire user base were to hit our servers all at once :eek: Throw that on our usual load, and the servers might start crying for upgrades, and for mercy :eek:

I'm not sure of the real reasons the site was down all day yesterday. It took 14 hours for the Planet to answer my trouble ticket updates and they only did today when I had my wife call because I was at work. They had us online within 20 minutes.

Anyone know of any good managed hosting services? I know they cost an arm and a leg but by the time you give up your day off, bug your admin visiting his parents and piss around with a company that has no intention of answering you on a Sunday afternoon it is worth it. :)
