Just curious, it occured to me that Nvidia never had a blue logo. Being the biggest Nvidia enthusiast site on the internet, maybe this site should start looking more like an Nvidia site lol.
Meh, got bored, something like this:
Mmmmmm....why didn't you post this in the FEEDBACK FORUM!!!!???!!!
You get a few posts ahead of me and start mucking up...I tell ya. ;)
I think its blue because I like blue. And I guess more importantly MikeC likes blue.
I have to admit though, that is a cool logo.
Why isn't it green? Because this is not a nVidia fan site. Mike hates nVidia and thinks that BitBoys are teh l33t. Vaporware FTW.

i like the blue NVNews.net logo that we have personally. Its alot more simple and too the point. Then again, I don't like anything flashy.
i like it. looks kind of like a news channel logo (the font, shape, etc.)
awesome :)
it's blue because it goes with the colours of the forum.....it would look out of place if the logo was made green and everything else blue
other than that you logo is very kewl
Wow! Nice logo :D I should make a shirt or something.. lawl

The back ground of that logo is just for the banner. The logo is the box which can stand alone for a more simple look.

I don't want you guys to get the wrong idea from my post. I think that logo is brilliant. However, when I think "NVNews" I see blue in my head, not green. Maybe he should try a blue version? See how it looks then.

^^ Well he is unable to game due to his 7900gtx SuperLOCKS so he has time to photoshop. Cool Logo! :D
How is that RMA process going anyways man?
Nice job with the logo, Keith! I hope MikeC uses it.

I really like that logo... thats freaking awesome.
I think itd be cool if the forum had a green layout... and that green logo. Thatd be sweet :D
I've just been around so long the colors are starting to get a little dull. A more "nVidia" color scheme would be pretty awesome. Darker, and more green.

LOL pretty much. I use gaming to take breaks between studying so now I'm photoshoping and forum spamming when I need to relax. :)
A very nice guy at eVGA just shipped me a hand tested Superclock and I should have it in the next few days. Hopefully that solves everything. :)
CaptNKILL: That's exactly what I was thinking, I like the color scheme on the SLIzone site.

Yeah I like simple logos. I also think that we should keep the current color sceme just as it is. nVNews is a nVidia fan site but not taking nVidia's colors give's Mike's site its own identity.
Now if Mike would change his site to look like the old 3D Colony site that would make me mucho happy.:D
BTW, the only thing I would change in your design is the V in the border at the top. I think it should go straight across rather than follow the contour of the letter V. It would clean the logo up a bit IMO. Other than that it is a awesome design.
Keith you are very talented. I like that logo but am afraid of copyright infringement with that NVIDIA sign in it.
I might check with NVIDIA and see if it a violation of their copyright. I am getting ready to order us some more t-shirts for members this time.

I think you will have a good chance to use that NVnews logo Keith33 made, you will need to show it to Nvidia with proper official permission to use it on your website. I found Nvidia trademark information here (http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/legal_info.html):

Considering I spend more time here than I do sleeping, working or breathing, I might as well get a shirt to show it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. If it is possible to use it, obviously I'll make the necessary modifications and give MikeC the Editable photoshop file at 300dpi to use to his heart's content.
Just like UDawg did, post any changes you'd like to see, I have a big calculus test on Wednesday so I won't be able to do any until Wednesday night or Thursday but I'll post any ideas in this thread. :)
As for inspiration, I liked the "stamp" idea of the new 7 series logo and considering everyone here has a Geforce card its only makes sense to use a similar design.

Dude, that logo is frickin' awesome. I've been doing a LOT more work in Photoshop and have finally discovered the joys of filters...but I'm nowhere near that good yet. :( :o
How'd you learn?

LOL, mostly playing around with Photoshop. I've been using it since version 4.
As for the filters, try downloading some from Adobe Studio Exchange and see how they're made, you can pretty much reverse engineer all of them to learn the "tricks". That's how I first learned the beveled metal look.
Even some of the action sets on the Studio Exchange let you see all the steps that were done to get a really cool effect, there's a lot of crazy photoshop people out there lol.
