View Full Version : Any way to check RAM timings without removing heatsink?

I'd like to see the rating of the GDDR3 on my 6600GT, is there any way to do it? I'm not going to remove the heatplate. Just want to confirm that it's 2ns.
I am sure that is what you have but there is no way to check it 100% without seeing the ram.

I'm happy with the performance of the card but it doesn't overclock very well. Being an AGP part the default memory was 900 but I took it to 1000 no problem. But beyond that, it can only do 1.04. GPU can't even do 550. Temperatures aren't a problem. I would think with geniune 2ns ram it could do 1.1 minimum? Maybe it actually has 900MHz ram? And to not even be able to push the core to 550 is unheard of on the 6600 GT I would have thought.
Could just be my bad luck I got one which doesn't overclock very well. My 5700 overclocked like a champ (425/500 to 500/600).
I have never seen a 6600GT with slower than 2.0ns GDDR3 ram.
