Hello all,

I've recently ordered (today) a new motherboard + cpu to replace the P3 1300MHz (mobo, cpu, ram, vid card) in my sig. I'm happy to be able to sell these parts for 175$Can which is the same amount that the new mobo and cpu will cost me (shipping and taxes included).

I'm buying the Asus K8N-VM (Integrated Geforce 6100 + Free PCI-Express slot) and Sempron64 2800+ (1.6GHz + 256KB cache). This will be my first new system since my P4 2.4C @ 3.4.

To all those that would say, "omg, don't buy a Sempron for a first AMD system", no worries, I'm not expecting the cpu to be faster than my P4 at 3.4, but I'm expecting a 2GHz Sempron to match a ~3GHz Northwood :), it won't matter as my Northwood will stay my gaming rig. The Sempron will only be used for Web + Axapta programming.

So any1 looking for a cheap system, www.ncix.com is your friend :)
I know the K8N-VM has a max fsb of 240 which is pretty low, I'm hoping to find a way to unclock the bios, or I'll just use clockgen. I'll write here my first impressions of a cheap AMD system. No worries for AMD die-hard fans, I'll be comparing it mostly to my old P3 1300.

Have a good day all!

OH MY GOD!

.............

Original Sempron64 clocks : 1.6GHz 256kB cache
Current (and testing using prime95) : 2.56GHz !!!!!!!!!!!! (stock volts, CPU temp 40C)

This may even be a better overclocker than my P4 2.4C!!!!!!

I<m so glad this cheap mobo has PCI-E, this rig is going to murder my P4 (Northy @3.4) with a good vid card!

That is a great overclock ,I would add at least another 512mb of ram for it though,It is always great to get new computer stuff,it makes it even better when you get a extra GIG out of your CPU.
