They look almost the same, I have heard that the viewing distances, and textures are slightly better on PC though.

Yeah but at the cost of framerate :thumbdwn:

I noticed that the max grass draw distance (without ini tweaks) is much much higher than the videos and screenshots showed originally. Does anyone have an xbox360 and a PC so we can compare the grass pop in distance?

I think the 1week countdown video was taken on a 360 devkit and you can see the grass pop in there quite well. Just an idea, until someone posts photographs or a video clip from the retail 360 version.

i have tweaked my game to have aamzing draw distance on trees and grass without performance loss, heh. Woot for balancing out my ini.

Heh, not yet but I'm hoping to pick up the 360 version tonight. Did you have any luck taking pictures of it on your TV? I've tried photographing mine several times and it never looks very good at all. The pics always seem to have a bunch of moire patterns on the LCD for some reason.

Be sure to post your INI in the tweak thread or at least the tweaks you're using so we can add them to our own. :)

In that case you are in the "moire" distance of the LCD dots. You can either increase the distance between the camera and LCD, or decrease the distance and photograph in "tiles".

Cool, thanks for the tip!

Just rename it into a .txt, and attach it into a post of yours.

I'm still inside but I'm comparing now. Initially, my impression of the indoor graphics are that they're very similiar. The one odd thing though is that I had to really crank the brightness on the Xbox 360 to be able to see. I never bothered with a torch on the PC so maybe they're just trying to force that on the Xbox.

I'd say inside it's pretty close. They look very similiar. Outside I'd say the PC looks better but part of that may also be the resolution difference since I'm playing at 1920x1200 on the PC and I'm using 720p on the Xbox360. Even though I'm playing without AA on the PC, I see less jaggies, I guess b/c of the high-res (although, maybe it's because I'm playing on the Xbox 360 sitting just about 2 ft from the HD monitor). The pop-up grass, etc. isn't nearly as distracting as I thought it would be. Maybe it would be worse running but walking it's fine. Doesn't seem to be as much grass though. Performance-wise, it runs much better on the Xbox360. Inside there were some slowdowns in the same areas I saw on the PC. Outside, I haven't hit any real slowdown yet while it's kind of slow in general outside on the PC.

Here are some horrible attempts at photographing the Xbox 360 picture. I wish they'd add a screenshot feature to the consoles. Oh well...

Edit: I think the outside water on the Xbox 360 looks better.

Edit 2: It just changed the time of day again so I took a few during the transition. You'll have to ignore my flash in one of them. I wanted y'all to see that the colors aren't quite so washed out. The flash gives me better colors but of course, it ends up in the screenshot also.

The console version is capped at 30fps, would you say 30fps on the PC are the same as 30fps on the console? Just curious.

Outside, the 30fps on the console seems a little smoother. I didn't realize it was capped at 30 and initially I was guessing it was running at 50-60fps outside. Glad I didn't post that guess. :)

Also, after sitting on the couch for a bit to see how it looks, it looks much better. I think I'm just too close at the moment but at a normal distance it looks good.

I also think that the XB360 uses FP10 for HDR rather than FP16 on nV cards, its probably not a noticable difference though.

How is the AF levels? Is it using any AF? It looks a little low from the pics, I started to become less of an AA wh0re, and more of an AF wh0re :D

BTW OWA, your screenshots are quite decent, I notice that the "low res" textures in the distance do also appear on the console version. Probably not such a big deal thanks to the larger distance from the TV and lower AF (4AF max IMO)..... the texture quality is reduced more "fluently" instead on the PC when 16AF is used where you literally get bitchslapped by the low res textures in the distance.

Thanks. Your tip helped tremendously. These are much, much better than my first few attempts at photographing the HD monitor with something showing. I was too far back I guess. Moving closer like you suggested mostly got rid of the moire patterns.

The AF looks really low, but overall doesnt look much different.

Yeah, that's another thing I should note. Performance seems better on the Xbox360 than the PC but I'm also trying to use higher settings on the PC. If I lowered the AF, for example, they're closer. So overall, yeah, they're pretty close.

Is this a result of the low af? I notice that Oblivion sometimes takes a second to load all the textures into memory since it streams the data.

I have been playing quite a bit of the 360 version and must admit that the apparent low level of AF hasn't bothered me much. I am not sure what level of AA the game is using but it is probably 2x although it appears to look as well as 4x does in games on my PC with my 6800 Ultra. Some areas like the Imperial City the jaggies seem to be worse than usual but the architecture there seems to show that off. Does anyone that is playing it on the PC notice that it is worse in the capital city?

I have been playing this on my 4 year old 42" Toshiba rear projection CRT sitting about 6 feet away from screen so I am thinking that is not the ideal tv for gaming although it plays DVDs well. I am wondering how much better it will look when my LCDTV comes in:

http://samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/LNS2651DXXAA.asp

I am buying that mainly for use for my Xbox 360 and HDTV use in my bedroom but I will probably try my PC on it and see how well it works - it has a 8ms response time supposedly. I still have my Mitsubishi 2070SB so that part of it is no big deal to me.
