Hi, Im new to these boards, but i hear its the best place for nvidia info.

I just got a new motherboard, and with it a BFG 7900GT OC, My question is somewhat simple, i installed coolbits, and wentt o check my clock speeds, and it reads 525 for core, and 850 for memory....I thought this was kind of odd, I ran 3dmark 05 and i got a score of 8180, which seems to be above average for the card, Im wondering if its an issue with the card not reading right in coolbits or what.

Also it seems whenever i load a game, or even xfire, my displays will blink for a split second, almost like if you were to have a loose vga cable and wiggle it. Other than that the card is working great.

I have the same cards and not to alarm you but there are bad BFG 7900GT OCs with missing capacitors. I had 2 with damaged capacitors and had to RMA them...of the 3 others they had in stock an additional 1 had a damaged capacitor. Information and a picture on this issue can be found under the BFG 7900 threads in this forum. Sorry don't have a link atm.

Now this has likely nothing to do with your card but I would encourage you to look at your card and see if either of the small bottom capacitors are off the board.

Other than that I have found they generally clock very well as they are essentially the same board that EVGA and others clock for resale at 550/775 (mine both run fine at this speed).

I guess thats more my question, is 550 over 775 normal, i mean the box, and all tech specs i can find say it should be 560/1250 or am i just stupid.

Im new to the whole pci express, i didnt know if there was some odd multiplyer or somehthing im missing out on

Sorry for double post, Apparently i didnt understand the new system for ram timings on the cards, and all is normal, I detected optimal, and my system is set at 545/800 and running smooth as a babies bottom.

Are you sure its a BFG 7900GT OC? I have not seen them clocked this high out of the box. The BFG 7900GT OC is 475/1360. Yours is 525/1700!?!?! Or is that 525/1700 after you detected optimal settings in Coolbits?

After running Several coolbit's optimal settings, its sitting at 535/800

so i guess, there is an x2 multiplier on the 800????

Can anyone please explain to me how this works

Correct it is 535/1600. Coolbits will read 535/800 which is correct.
The gpu memory is DDR memory (GDDR3) so it is 800x2=1600

Cool, however, my 6800 ultra reads as 1200 when its also DDR3... i think its more just how its measuered, anyhow i couldnt be more happy with this purchase :)

yeh, for the 6800's it is read already multiplied, it's a minor difference, no performance difference, it's just nvidia's way of sticking with a 3-digit number instead of having huge numbers, same thing, different way of saying it
