nvida 6800GT hitching playing certain games

hiya everyone
im having problems with games like doom3/quake4/F.E.A.R in certain places in doom3 it hitches/slight pauses does this sound like a faulty card?

if i move the mouse right to the top of this spaceship and straight down i get the hitching around the middle

ive been in contact with nvida well e-mail they just keep on saying change drivers has it enough power use driver cleaner and so on, i know all this ive done all the stuff you would normally do

has anyone any idea why im getting hitching

ive spent 2weeks formatting and trying different things then formatting and so on, its ok to say have you tried turning off fast writes ive tried lots of things like that, my system should cope with these games without turning something off,i spent over a grand on my pc there is no way i want to fix the problem by turning something off when it should work with 0problems with everything on. if you know what i mean, the psu is fine it has more than enough power

ive even tried to overclock the card i clicked on detect optimal frequencies i got: core 406/memory 1.11 thats no good because when playing doom it keeps freezing and unfreezing

i cant even push it a bit without games freezing.

how are the temps? It could be downclocking itself when it gets too hot, resulting in the hitching. Also, when you are already hitching/freezing the last thing you want to do is overclock the card more to try and fix it.

Slight pauses could simply be down to having 1GB Ram, in Fear I would say that was definately the cause.

i dont get any pauses or anything in fear or doom. and im running 6800gt with 1 gb ram. using fw 81.98

yeh in FEAR and Quake 4 i got slight hitching just on 1024x768 because i was using over 1gb of system RAM, it's not necessarily the card

im stuck what to do, do i chance it and get more ram or send back my card,there is no chance its getting hot also it seems its only doing it where its strong on the graphic detail but im not sure on that.

it doesn't happen all the way through the game just in bits like at the start of doom3 in the picture i posted

When you get this hitching, do you get any hard drive activity?

no nothing is accessing the harddrive,ive been tring to get into the doom console but i can acess that, i did a search on here and look what ive read

Try this in Doom 3 pull down console (Ctrl+ALT=~)at same time to get into console while playing and type com_fixedtic 1 and hit enter this will take care of the locked frams in the game and will take out the jerk you get this also happens in the new Quake 4 with my 7800GTX,works very well. Let me know if this works.Cant tell you about the other games


it seems to be a problem around the world, some get it some dont just check
out doom 3 frame skip.

AOE 3 stutters...... my intros stutter...... Battlefield 2 stutters
I should never have bought this 6800GT been nothing but trouble

his card is agp and mine is pcie but it sounds like the same problem dont you think?

ok his seems to be hitching alot where mine is in certain parts of the game
