View Full Version : 1600x1050 = no aspect ratio scaling?
Just bought a new TFT monitor (1600x1050 res) and when trying to set the flat panel options to "aspect ratio scaling", I get a garbled screen reverting to "monitor scaling" after 15secs. Same when choosing any other option besides "monitor scaling"
When setting my resolution to something else (no matter what), it works fine, just not at 1600x1050. Monitor is an Acer 20" widescreen (2051W).
Any1 got an idea??? It seems as if the drivers output a too high hz level making the TFT go all wrong.

First of all, the resolution should be 1680x1050. I have an Acer AL2032wd monitor that had similar problems. It turns out, Acer's monitors have known problems with not properly displaying the resolution they say they do. With mine, it was supposed to be 1680x1050 native resolution. However, no matter what, I could not get it to display that resolution. It would only do 1600x1050 added as a custom resolution. I went through months of frustration with Acer before sending my monitor back to the company for a firmware upgrade so that it properly supported the native res of 1680. I finally got it working, but by that time I had purchased a Dell 2405fpw. Best of luck.
That 1600x1050 was a type, it's meant to be 1680x1050 but indeed it's acting strange. Resolution works, but only when using "monitor scaling".
I find that it is important to have the driver and the monitor both set to the same scaling to avoid issues. So, make sure both are set the same.
There is no way to set this for my monitor. From what I've read, this would be a firmware issue with my monitor which tries to use a different resolution than the one requested.
