I recieved my 2nd 7900GTX today, and just installed it a few minutes ago.

I used the directions on the NVidia SLI website for the install. Here is the step by step of what I have done so far. Please tell me anything that I may have missed.

1. Turned off PC and inserted 2nd 7900GTX
2. Attached PCI-X power cable
3. Attached SLI link card across both 7900GTX's
4. Booted the PC
5. Uninstalled 84.25 drivers with Driver Cleaner (cleaned system out)
6. Rebooted the PC
7. Installed 84.25 drivers
8. Message came up saying system detected SLI capability

This is where it stops. I cannot get SLI working completely after the last step. If I go to the NVidia Driver settings panel, here is the message that is displayed on the SLI tab:

"You must remove any graphics cards that are not compatible with NVidia Scalable Link Interface (SLI) technology before you can enable SLI."

I'm not sure what else to do to correct the situation and enable SLI. I have also tried switching the SLI link card around on the two cards to see if it was directional, since it wasn't marked at all. This obviously didn't have any effect.

So what do you think? How do I enable SLI from this point on?

Thanks!

Inbetween the 2 cards there are 6 jumpers. They are all on 1-2 right now. You need to move all to 2-3. There's a tool included that lets you do this. looks diamond shaped

2. Attached PCI-X power cable

Just a friendly reminder that PCI-X does not equal PCIe.

Totally forgot about the jumpers...obviously. :o

Redid the jumpers and did the random jump around the 4 DVI connectors to see which was the active display. Reinstalling drivers... :D We'll see if it works this time.

Understood, and thank you. ;)

I agree.

Well done! :)

...now I just need to get the performance up to par...

Just ran 3DMark06 and 05 with no overclocking:

3DMark06: 6450
3DMark05: 10200

This just isn't right. I scored 10,740 with my single 7900GTX clocked at 710/1760.

What do you guys think could be wrong?

Have you checked the "Enable sli multi gpu" icon in the drivers?

Yes, and restarted the system.

I played some games first to check the performance and saw some minor increases, and also watched the Load Balancing bars.

Not sure if it's quite accurate or where it should be.

What do you think about the scores?
