Sony Bravia 32" XBR LCD. I don't have the space for those massive CRTs or a rear projection, so I went with the best 32" LCD I could find.

Heh damn you, that TV costs more than my whole PC i think. I saw it in a store the other day.... it was good but nothing spectacular considering the price. Still, it'd be nice to have one. I'm personally thinking of getting the S-Series 32'' by Sony which is about 500-1000 less.

Brillant gaming TV? How about finest display device ever built, regardless of price. Yes, your TV has better image quality than Sony's 70" Qualia 006.

Mathesar: We have both the same PC monitor and HDTV. :D

Never base the quality of a display on the instore display unit. Usually the display is set in "torch mode" and made to attract attention on the showroom floor.

No but I do got AVIA and DVE at home when I do get it. The things I'm looking for at the store have nothing to do with the colors or the vividness of the picture. I mostly look at how it looks physically, the remote, the settings, the presets and the features.... as far as things like colors, sharpness, and ghosting, I mostly base that on the opinions of reviewers and people who post in the forums.... I mean thats the great thing about buying a product in the local store, I can always return it in 30 days if I dont like it.

Plus I completely don't mind having a non 100% correctly calibrated picture, as long as I have a picture my eyes enjoy... that's all that matters to me personally, as far as anyone else... that's just their preference.

That surely does look like a sweet looking monitor.

I was tryign to research on it but with no luck, what is the average price on one of those bad boys?

I got mine from Crutchfield for around $2000. The matching stand cost me about $200 from Crutchfield.

They're no longer made. If you want one, better shop around fast. The age of high end CRT's is over. All Sony will make is the crappy half assed XBR970.

It's no longer in production so you may have a hard time finding one :(

It varies in price ($1500 - $1900), I couldnt find it anywhere in town and buying something this expensive online was a bit of a concern, but I ended up going with Crutchfield online being they have near perfect feedback on resellerratings (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1737.html), I got it for $1899 with free shipping & no taxes, plus you get a 2 year parts & labor in home factory warranty.

I believe it's one of the last batches made with its Feb 2006 build date.

I've been mostly playing games & watching standard cable but I recently bought an antenna for the ATSC tuner and must say HD material looks absolutely stunning on this TV

I had to go with CRT for now. If all goes according to plan(does it ever?) I should have a Panasonic AE-900 Front Projector within the next two months.

To bad it doesn't accept a 1080p signal and just upconverts everything to that res.
