As I said in another post... The spelling on that "slide" is so bad it couldn't have come from ATI... It's obviously fake and very relevant to yesterday's date.

Wonīt stand a chance when it competes with the G80. ATI needs to sell twice as many GPUs to make similar profits. *laughable*
I wonder who really did this? The adjectives and nouns are all smooshed together, so I would guess their native language is Germanic in origin.
My vote is for Fuad :)
Anyway, on to the fun "facts":
It's using GDDR3 still? That would make it the 3rd top-end ATi card to support gDDR4 and not use it. Not exactly the kind of thing to put on a marketing slide.
If the "memorycontroller" is programmable, why did it have to be "tweaked"?
Why would an increase in memory bandwidth give you a 30% boost in "shaderintensive" games? It would make a lot more sense in "textureintensive" games.
The quality of these fake slides lately has really gone downhill. Kinda like spam e-mail. People used to put a lot of effort into making the spam look official, but now they don't even bother changing the "Dear %%%PERSON_NAME1%%% line :)
Well, They are canadian...
Dont make me kick you in the nuts!

OP: All you've done since you joined this board is spread ATI trash, so get a life you dirty rage troll.
As for the card itself, the inq is reporting those specs and apparently the card will be launched in August as a refresh. This is a pretty stupid time because anyone with a brain (the people who will buy these types of cards) isn't going to buy a DX9 part 3 months before Vista is released. If anything it's a test for the 80nm process and optimizing yields before the R600. It seems like all the latest generations REQUIRED ATI to have one more refresh than Nvidia, that's not a good business decision lol. Maybe if they knew how to manufacturer cards cost effectively they wouldn't need to pull this crap.
Hey, hey, not all Canadians are stupid rednecks that can't spell. :)

I'm bored of new high end cards every 3 months. I'm not going to buy any gfx card more till the real DX10 era.

Yes, because we all know that the ultra-high end cards is where they make all their profits (pirate)

Most profits are made on low-end/mid-end cards, and NV isnīt lacking behind there, or are they? Their card line up is well sorted, compeditive, and not confusing, completely on 90nm and with good yields.

Is it really supposed to compete with the G80? More like 7900GTX if those slides are real.

It really depends which release rumors we can trust. Will ATI have this card ready within the next 3-5 months and how far away is the R600 considering the latest rumors that they donīt plan release it until Vista is out.
Then on the NV side, there were tons of rumors of the G80 hitting the street before summer, during summer, and late summer, autumn, etc. However, a lot points towards NV having their next-gen part out before ATI. NV can launch their next-gen part on 90nm, something what ATI canīt, they need to launch it on 80nm because they are already near the transistor density limit for 90nm with the R580, while NV has plenty of space left.
So it might go end up like I said, the R590 at 80nm against the G80 at 90nm within a timeframe of +/- 2-3 months. While it might compete "on paper" against the 7900GTX, it will also compete against the G80 if that one should be out within that said timeframe.
The secret to win a battle is to launch a compeditive and profitable product BEFORE the other camp does.

Even if this card is faster than the 7900s it will be coming out about 5-6 months after. That's not a win in my book. It's more like ATI put out the X1900, saw G71 and said, "Just kidding", this is our real top end.:thumbdwn:
Yea I think this will happen for a while, ATI and nV trading blows back and forth :) Its good for the industry ;)
x1950xtx is just a small refresh, like the 9800xt.
I fully expect the R600 to compete with the G80. My bets are on G80, but we'll see ;)

X1950XTX.. ATi really needs to streamline their product line by removing all those damn X monikers..

In few years we might have XX10500XTX5ZXR2 Pro Plus :D
But seriously the more cards they release the more options and lower prices end users get ;) so thats a good thing.

A few weeks ago I made a post about what would happen if XFX made overclockable crossfire enabled ATI cards, I came up with something like this:
XFX X1900XTX XXX 2X :D

yeah, i don't like trolls either. how good of an argument is it to make fun of the nomeclature? i think it's inline with pointing out grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. ATI is by far not the worst offender of ridiculous naming schemes. take a look at Gainward's history. using nomeclature against ATI is truly grasping at straws.

trolls will believe anything and twist it around into a derogatory event. "ATI must be hurting because of NVIDIA's G71/G80, bwahahaha." so many are childish on here.
you all know that this slide was an april fool's joke, don't you?
http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showpost.php?p=731820&postcount=44
I just mixed up some random quotes taken from the ATi site. Like "Unite and Dominate - Combined Multi-GPU power that soars into a new dimension of graphics capability" taken from their CrossFire mini-site and obviously the whole "visual realism part" that's been used by ATi several times (and also by nV and Matrox).
Anyway, it's funny to see that, despite the spelling, it fooled so many people incl:
- Hardspell
- EB
- Rage3D
- NV News
- PCPop
- Guru3D
- TechPowerup
- HarTware.net
- Radeon Italia
I wonder what Jen Sun was thinking when he did his daily rounds around the forums and saw that slide.
I'm surprised L'Inq didn't post this yet.
Edit: Added PcPop & Guru3D & Techpowerup to the list of victims. This is getting ridiculous. lol.
