Recently, in some interview (not sure which one I read) with an Nvidia employee, I was surprised at one of the answers.

The question was along the lines of "ATI has the performance crown now, how do you intend to re-establish yourself at the top?"

His answer was "No doubt ATI is king now, but we will re-assert ourselves at top within 6 months."

Now, this surprised me at the time of reading the interview because FX release was just a month away and the employee was not confident about it. However, as we now know through reviews, FX does not take the throne. He knew what he was saying.

Therefore, his answer implies that they will release the successor to FX within 6 months. Whether its NV35 or NV40, I do not know. However, his confidence says something about the successor.

All this could simply be another PR spin but I tend to believe this one because he was honest about FX capability and did not claim that they will regain the performance crown once FX was released. Mind you guys, this interview was about 2 weeks ago. No FX numbers yet.

Yes, of course, its their product anyway. However, my point is that the public didn't have any numbers at that time and he did not hype the FX. He gave a definitive clue about FX's performance with that statement.

Then again, this interview was recent. How much more hype could be possible when the truth was waiting in the wings. I guess he may have thought that it would affect his credibility if he had said FX would blow 9700 out of the water.
