low-end test of 80nm, a taste of the future, now. i'll keep my lips sealed about what i know about NVIDIA's weaponry. ;)
Who cares about the x1600xt. Where is the dual x1900's?

*sigh* Honestly I wish this dual-core GPU nonsense would die the death. Next people will be telling us that NVIDIA will be adding "threading" to their GPUs.
Dual-core on a single die make no sense -- GPUs are already multi-core this way and have been for years.
Dual-core in the Intel sense (two physical chips in the same package) might help improve yields a bit, but adds to packaging costs and doesn't solve the memory bandwidth issue.
Dual GPU graphics cards with independent memory buses -- helps solve the bandwidth issue -- but we already have these cards, why are people so excited?
Really people, "dual-core" is meaningless in GPU-land.
There really is only one exciting possibility for "dual-core": a "dual die" solution, ie. two physical chips in a single package, one of which is a GPU and the other of which is a stonking great piece of RAM. A la Xenos. Wake me up if and when this happens, otherwise *please* when someone mentions dual-core in a GPU context poke them in the eye with a stick

i thought all the moderators on here had NDA material available to them, anyways? it just seemed that a lot of moderators around here do more than just moderate the board, but also provide reviews which would constitute access to unreleased NVIDIA products to meet publishing deadlines and launch dates.

think about it for a second two cores under one hood...just double the thermals...or even lets say 50% increase in termals. so how would you disapate that much heat? also lets say this double cored chip is designed for 65 nm and is infact dual core. tscm hasnt moved to 65nm yet so the best they could do is move to 80nm and this move wouldnt be enough to deal with the termal problem. also how do you figure they would add the new dx10 features ( that dx10 spec isnt even finished yet) to the chip along with the exsisting componants, which would add even more heat to deal with due to the fact that you now have more transisters (or dx10 trannies) to deal with. then you have problems with scheduling data between the two chips and you would also have to add interchip connectors which is very expensive thing todo. so what i am trying to say is it would be cheeper and easier to make a chip with more pipes (remember its faster for internal componants to communicate with each other then external ones) and termal demands would be less because you dont have to deal with external trace units between the chips. you would also get about the same performance with say 32 pipe single chip (because of internal communications) then say two 24 pipe on die chips. because now you have not only overhead with interchip communications but you also have the added latency between the chips.

So, now ATI finally has a DUAL GPU card out. There are how many cards with dual nVidia based gpus? That dual 6600GT gig from Gigabyte, I think there is even a dual 7800GT board floating around somewhere.
This is rediculous, in my opinion.

That dual 7800gt board hasnt sold well at all cuz its significantly more expensive than having 2 7900gts in sli. I stil think its nice to have the option though.
