In what settings?

I'm not too impressed by the performance, im getting 15-40 FPS outside (15 FPS when fighting in some areas). All shadows are turned off except tree canopys, grass is tweaked (more sparse), everything else on highest, HDR, 1280x1024.

It'll run ok if i turn off all shadows + grass, but then it doesnt look that much better than a modded morrowind (with new textures and new trees).

I ordered a x1800xt yesterday, should be at least twice as fast with these settings + i can use AA + HDR.

7800GT performance?

Here you go...

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/oblivion_high-end_performance/page5.asp

It ranges from 20 to 40 outdoors with HDR at 1024x768.

i run it @1280x1024 HDR on, everything high except exterior and interior shadows that are set to a little lower than medium and no AF. I usually get 30fps average in outdoors and above 50 in indoors. I also made some tweaks to oblivion.ini such setting iMinGrassSize to 130.

For myself I'm able to play Oblivion at 1024x768 + HDR, everything max, except no grass shads, view distance is set to 100% but land/buildings/trees distants are off. In outdoors I get about 23-50fps and in indoors ~ +50/70.
It seems that other 7800 GT owners is able to play game at higher visual settings.
Don't you think that my highest playable settings are too low for the 7800GT(400/1000) + X2 3800(2.0Ghz) + 2Gb Corsair ram?

Well your 7800GT is @stock speeds, you could overclock a little and gain some performance :)

Without overclocking, which things do you recommend to tweak?

The grass and the tree canopy shadows are the biggest performance hits.

edit iMinGrassSize=80 and use =130 instead, nice boost.

Thanks, are there any tweaks that i can get noticable performance boost?

But don't you think that performance is too low for my setup?

It looks fine to me. The game is very demanding.
