View Full Version : 7800gs and PSU. Out of ideas.

I bought a new EVGA Geforce 7800gs, and it was crashing (computer stalls, monitors goes into standby, and audio loops) in DirectX games. It seemed like a PSU problem so I got a new OCZ Powerstream 600, but the issue remains.

Mobo is Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. P4 3 ghz. 3 gigs RAM. 2 SATA HDs. 1 IDE HD. 1 Plextor DVD drive. Audigy Sound Card.

I've also put it at 4x AGP and turned off Fastwrites. Also changed AGP memory size from 64 to 128. Turned off anti-aliasing.

The 7800gs also is being powered with the cable that says VGA/HDD without any other devices connected to that cable. I'm assuming that's the right way to connect the power.

I'm also using the latest Forceware 84.21 with the latest BIOS for my mobo. Latest DirectX is installed.

I'm about to return the card. Any thoughts?

I came across this thread at the EVGA forums. It explains a lot. Guess I'll be RMAing my card.
