Well, I just ran some benchmarks and here are my findings compared to the benchmarks I ran with my 7800 GT. Why are some of my scores (05,06, and A3) lower than the 7800 GT's scores? If this is the case, I may not be as impressed with this card as I thought I was going to be.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I OC the 2D as well to make it the same as the stock 3D? Input please!

Just ran the Detect Optimal Frequencies and it came back with 568/833 and this is what I got;

06 - 3,692 / 1,806 / 1,672 / 796

Try overclocking your CPU, just a guess but there might be a bottleneck with the 3200+. Forget 3Dmarks for a second, has your gameplay experience improved? Can you run games with better eye candy?

Something definitely seems wrong, especially considering the 05 score is lower. I could see the 01 and 03 scores being CPU limited, but I would expect your 05 and 06 scores to be a good deal higher.

How do your scores look compared to similar systems in the ORB?

it could be a cpu bottleneck, but still, that makes no since if the 7900gt, little imrpovement or not, still has 4 more pixel pipelines and is clocked much much higher

- Not sure what the ORB is

- Not exactly sure how to overclock the CPU. Can I do that without OC'ing the memory? I ask that because I have 4 sticks in 4 dimm sockets and it is Corsair Value Select and I doubt I can get much of an OC out of it.

- Getting ready to test BF2. I just ran benchmarks last night.

You will probably have to run a divider for you memory to overclock that cpu. Something is wierd here as the 7900gt should be quite a bit faster than the 7800gt.

You can overclock it with a RAM divider if you don't have confidence in your RAM hitting decent speeds. The ORB is where people with legitimate copies of 3Dmark post their scores and you can compare them based on systems and config etc. Good luck, this is a weird problem.

Maybe try the 84.21 drivers? That's what I'm using, I've had a 650pt increase in 3Dmark06, a 1200pt boost in 05, 2100pt jump in 03, and that's with just a 7900 GT CO, not the SC version. When you installed the 7900, did you uninstall the 7800 from your device manager and remove the nvidia display drivers from your control panel? I only ask because from those scores, it's almost like your computer thinks it still has the 7800 installed. :thumbdwn: Maybe try to reseat the card or something?

Yeah, I uninstalled the 7800 GT before I pulled it. Then I ran DC Pro and then I installed the 84.25 drivers. I just VModded my card and it came back as 574/845 after running Detect Optimal Frequencies. This is with stock HSF of course. I think I'll go ahead and uninstall these drivers and reinstall the Official Release drivers, non-beta, and see what happens.

03 - 20,274
05 - 9,031
06 - 4,652 / 2,446 / 2,430 / 794
A3 - 71,870 / 11,640 / 9,391

Just ran the FEAR test with these settings;

In NV Cpl - 4xAA/16xAF/HQ/GAA On/TAA SS/TB On/Neg LOD Bias Clamp

In Game - Everything maximum/soft shadows off/4xAA/16xAF/1280x960

and I got this;

It ran very, very smooth, no hicups, pauses or anything. Now to play the actual game...
